Joey Logano discussed NASCAR rules and gave his verdict on Alex Bowman's disqualification at Charlotte last week. The latter's car was below minimum weight during a post-race inspection.

Following this, the Hendrick Motorsports driver was disqualified from the race which helped Logano promote to the top eight of the playoffs. Without the disqualification, the #22's P8 finish wasn't enough to get promoted to the next stage of the championship contention.

Discussing the penalty that was levied upon Bowman's #48 Chevrolet, Joey Logano told NASCAR insider Bob Pockrass that he "couldn't" talk about the "specifics." He added that some rules of the sport could be interpreted differently, however, the minimum weight rule specifies the weight of a car.

"I can't speak on the specifics of what happened and how it happened," Joey Logano said. "And, you know, it's obvious that, you know, NASCAR gives us, you know, a half a percent of the total of the total weight of the vehicle after the race and, you know, it rules there for multiple reasons in the past. You know, obviously there's games played there, what they are and how it works."
"You're talking the wrong guy on that, but, you know, it's definitely, you know, some rules are gray that you can interpret two different ways and some are black and white when it comes to numbers and a weight of a vehicle is a little bit easier to kind of look at and say it's either black or white, but I can't speak to specifics of how it happened or what games are played and how often it happens and how much I can't answer those."

Alex Bowman's disqualification from the race also pulled him out of the NASCAR playoffs. Interestingly, Hendrick Motorsports revealed on Monday that they would not appeal the disqualification either.

Joey Logano looking ahead to Vegas race after getting rolled over into the playoffs

The NASCAR playoffs standings shook up after the "Big One" at Talladega earlier and Joey Logano was under constant threat. Despite a strong race at Charlotte and finishing P2 and P3 during the stages, he dropped down to P8 by the end of the race as Tyler Reddick charged through the field.

While his top-eight qualification came down with luck, he expects to bounce back at Las Vegas during the South Point 400. He claimed that he had been struggling at Kansas but his P14 finish was strong. Adding to it, he stated that Las Vegas has similar characteristics and he could bounce back in the race.

"I feel good about Vegas. You know, Kansas was one of the tracks that we've been struggling at for a long time. And Kansas and Vegas have a lot of similarities. And Kansas was really good for us. We almost won the first stage. We qualified up front, had speed in our cars. So when you look at Vegas, I feel pretty optimistic about what we can do there," he said.

Joey Logano has won two races in the season so far. Although he is aiming for a third Cup Series championship win, it could be tough getting into the top four without another victory.
