NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace was less than pleased by the controversial opinion of a NASCAR journalist, Nick Bromberg on Wallace's older brother, Mike Wallace's attempt at the Daytona 500 for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series. Kenny Wallace believes that the NASCAR journalist was "always a negative journalist" and stirred controversy among NASCAR fans with his response.
Kenny Wallace is an American race car driver and former NASCAR reporter who is the brother of fellow NASCAR drivers Rusty Wallace and Mike Wallace. He has nine wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and was a popular driver, winning the NASCAR Busch Series Most Popular Driver award three times. He is also known for his work as a television commentator for Fox NASCAR.
Nick Bromberg is a University of Missouri graduate and a journalist who majorly covers NASCAR and college football for Yahoo.com.
Kenny Wallace took to X.com (formerly Twitter) to reply to the journalist's displeasure with Mike Wallace's attempt at the Daytona 500 with MBM Motorsports in the 2025 season:
"Would not expect anything less out of you, Nick. You’ve always been a negative reporter," he replied.
Bromberg had originally tweeted:
"I'm sure this will be controversial, but a 65-year-old who hasn't competed in a Cup Series race or a top-3 series NASCAR race on an oval since 2015 and last raced in a top-3 series NASCAR race overall in 2020 probably shouldn't get automatic approval to attempt the Daytona 500"
Nick Bromberg responded to the criticism by Wallace, alluding to the fact that he could just make a bold criticism and a general observation but he would still get responded to. He tweeted:
"I can even telegraph the high fastball and it still gets swung at"
Mike Wallace will be returning to NASCAR after the passing of his wife, Carla, who succumbed to cancer in January of 2024. Wallace looks at this as the start of something exciting after a “devastating” year. In an interview with Racing America said:
“2024 was a devastating year for me with the loss of Carla, my wife of 44 years, who passed away in January from a battle with cancer. 2025 brings fresh excitement, starting with this Daytona 500 announcement. They say you have to be in it to win it, and we are rolling into Daytona with the chance to both be a part of and then race to win the Daytona 500."
Sometime back, the youngest Wallace brother reminisced how he tailed the legendary Dale Earnhardt on his final Cup Series win and shared a clip of the momentous occasion on social media.
“What a great memory”: Kenny Wallace looks back on tailing Dale Earnhardt’s final Cup Series win
Kenny Wallace recently reminisced about a special moment in his NASCAR career when he had the chance to tail Dale Earnhardt during Earnhardt’s final Cup Series win. Wallace, who was racing at the time, recalls how surreal it felt to be so close to Earnhardt during one of the most iconic moments in NASCAR history.
The race took place at Talladega Superspeedway in 2000 and Wallace recently shared the clip of the same on X, adding:
""Friends have been sending me this all morning. What a great memory"
The memory remains special for Wallace because it was not only Earnhardt’s triumph but also a reminder of the respect and camaraderie that existed among drivers at the time.
