Despite the closure of the main team, SHR isn't completely disappearing from NASCAR. Gene Haas the co-owner has announced plans to retain one of the team's cup series charters and reorganize as Haas Factory Racing. This new team will focus on the Cup Series and retain SHR's two Xfinity Series teams.
