Hendrick Motorsports ace Chase Elliott was voted NMPA Most Popular Driver in the NASCAR Cup Series from 2018 to 2023. That is six years in a row, the longest streak for any active driver in the series. With that said, one might wonder which of Elliott’s wins were the most popular ones. Let’s talk about that in this article.

1. Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400 at Texas Motor Speedway (2024)

This win was perhaps one of the most important wins in the career of the Dawsonville native. Chase Elliott had been winless since October 2, 2022. Finally, he brought a much-awaited end to his 42-race winless drought at Texas Motor Speedway, the same racetrack where Elliott’s teammate William Byron won the 300th race for his team just the following month.

Capitalizing on the final restart, Elliott took the white flag moments before Trackhouse Racing driver Ross Chastain spun out after taking a hit from Byron. As a result, the race ended under caution and Elliott was declared the winner.

2. YellaWood 500 at Talladega Superspeedway (2022)

Chase Elliott, a playoff-eligible driver that year, entered the race seventh on points. Ryan Blaney, who is known to be a close ally of Elliott, won Stage 1, passing Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin.

However, Elliott ran the outer lane and overtook teammate Kyle Larson, sweeping Stage 2. The closing laps of the race witnessed Blaney and Elliott battle for the lead. In the end, Elliott crossed the finishing line 0.046 seconds ahead of the Team Penske driver and made the Round of 8.

As per NASCAR, Chase Elliott became “the first championship-eligible driver to win in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs with his series-best fifth victory of the season.”

3. Ally 400 at Nashville Superspeedway (2022)

This win was special because it was Elliott’s first win at Nashville Superspeedway, a racetrack in Tennessee, which even his legendary father Bill Elliott wasn’t able to conquer during his career spanning over three decades.

“Getting a win is always huge,” Elliott said during a post-race interview (via NASCAR). “To do it in a really cool city like Nashville is even better. I’m looking forward to that guitar (trophy).”

Leading 42 of the 300-lap event, Chase Elliott held off 2004 Cup Series champion Kurt Busch by 0.551 seconds. It was his second win of the season and 15th of his career as a Cup Series driver.

4. Jockey Made in America 250 at Road America (2021)

It was Elliott’s seventh victory on a road course, his second win of the season and 13th of his career. But what made his triumph stand out was that the Cup Series returned to the Wisconsin track for the first time in 65 years.

Even the Trans Am Series by Pirelli and the Mazda MX-5 Cup hosted several races at the 4.048-mile road course over the weekend.

“Just really proud of our team for overcoming some adversity early and having to start in the back, having good pit stops,” Elliott said after clinching the win which gave him an automatic entry into the playoffs.

5. EchoPark Automotive Texas Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas (2021)

With his performance at COTA on May 23, 2021, Chase Elliott brought Hendrick Motorsport its 268th win and, with that, tied Petty Enterprises for most wins by an organization. It was also the 800th Cup Series race win for Chevrolet as a manufacturer.

With 17 laps to go, the inaugural event at COTA was cut short due to rain. Elliott was leading the field at the time and was thereby declared the winner. Larson, who would win the Cup Series championship that year, finished second.

Elliott, the defending series champion, also won his fourth Most Popular Driver award that year.
