Joey Logano is the only active NASCAR Cup Series driver to have won three Cup Series championships. The Team Penske driver clinched his most recent title after acing the season's final race this past season at the Phoenix Raceway. The #22 Ford Mustang driver's win also helped Roger Penske's team win its third consecutive title. Penske has thus won every NASCAR Cup Series title since the NextGen cars came in 2022.
Logano entered the elite racing series in 2008 and began his rookie campaign the next year. He switched to Team Penske in 2013 and has been running for the Mooresville, North Carolina-based outfit since. The Connecticut native has claimed 36 Cup wins thus far, 34 of those coming with the Penske boys.
However, despite having a noteworthy experience of 579 races through 17 years, a list of three daunting tracks, set to host a race in 2025, await a display of dominance from the NASCAR veteran.
#1. Sonoma Raceway
Joey Logano has made 15 starts at the road course circuit, his best performances being third-place finishes in 2023 and 2016. It would be the first venue among his three worst tracks to host a Cup race in the 2025 season, where Logano will try to fill the race-win void.
He was the polesitter in the 2024 Toyota/Save Mart 350 but couldn't hold his dominance, falling to a P21 finish. The Team Penske ace has registered four top-5s and six top-10s in Sonoma.
#2. Indianapolis Motor Speedway
The 2.5-mile rectangular oval track is home to the United States of America's highly-coveted races, the Indianapolis 500 and the Brickyard 400. The latter, a crown jewel NASCAR race, is among the most touted events on the stock car racing calendar.
Joey Logano has made 16 starts at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, three of which came at the inbuilt road course. Even though the #22 Ford driver came inches close to acing the race in 2019 and 2015, he ultimately settled in second.
#1. Dover Motor Speedway (Joey Logano's worst track)
Of all places where the three-time Cup Series champion is yet to exercise dominance, Dover Motor Speedway stands out as one that needs the most attention, as it is the only track where Logano has made the most starts without a win. From 28 appearances at the 1-mile oval, Logano has secured the best result of three third-place finishes, in 2018, 2013, and 2010.
The track will host the 23rd Cup Series on the 2025 calendar, right after the 2025 Toyota/Save Mart 350 at the Sonoma Raceway. It's worth mentioning that claiming a win at Dover would leave Indianapolis Motor Speedway as Logano's worst track.
Incidentally, Joey Logano's worst tracks, Sonoma, Dover, and Indianapolis, will host consecutive Cup Series races next season.
