Among all the well-known families intertwined with the sport of NASCAR, the three generations of the Wallace family ranks at the top of the list in terms of popularity. And perhaps the most talked about member of this elite family of racers is none other than the 1989 Winston Cup Series champion Rusty Wallace. He is serving as the lead analyst for MRN Radio (as of April 2024) and Wallace has shown no sign of slowing down even at the ripe age of 67.
Wallace is one of the pioneers of NASCAR’s steep commercial rise in the 1990s and the 2000s. His contributions towards the sport brought him the most coveted NMPA Myers Brothers Award. Besides that, he is also a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame (2013), the International Motorsports Hall of Fame, the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) Hall of Fame and the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America.
As a driver, Wallace's achievements are quite impressive as well. For 16 straight seasons, Wallace won at least one race on the Cup level and by the time he retired in 2005, his winning accolades included 55 victories and nearly 20,000 laps led.
Today, besides being an active member of the MRN family, he is also the owner of Rusty Wallace Racing, which has taken part in both Xfinity and Cup Series and an important member of The NASCAR Foundation, the sport’s charity initiative.
