Be it in the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour or be it in the pinnacle level of NASCAR’s racing series, Sterling Marlin has made a name for himself racing in both of them. A former Cup Series driver and two-time Daytona 500 winner, Marlin was inducted into NASCAR's 75 Greatest Drivers last year. He brought Dodge their first victory at Michigan International Speedway upon their return to the Cup Series after a long hiatus in 2001.
However, it's not just racing cars that this versatile genius is great at. Before dedicating his life to race cars, Marlin was a skilled football and basketball player at the Spring Hill High School in Tennessee. Back in 1995 and 1996, he was conferred the title of “Professional Athlete of the Year” by the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame. In 2008, he was inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
However, being a champion doesn't come easy. And perhaps, nobody knows that better than Paula Hood Marlin. The veteran racer was already neck-deep in his career when he met Paula. Needless to say, she knew her husband was indeed a very busy man and she would have to put up with it. Speaking of how often they had to travel, Paula said in an interview, “You live out of suitcases, number one. Never, never are they unpacked.”
