Following an exciting weekend at Sonoma Raceway, NASCAR is headed toward Newton, Iowa, for the 17th point-paying race of the season. Iowa Speedway will host a NASCAR Cup Series race for the first time in its 18-year history.
Earlier, NASCAR has organized Xfinity Series races between 2011 and 2019 and Truck Series races between 2009 and 2019 at the 1.4-kilometer short track oval.
This year, 37 Cup drivers will compete in the race at Iowa. Here are the top 5 paint schemes to run on Sunday.
1. Ross Chastain
Ross Chastain will drive the #1 green and white Busch Light For The Farmers Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for Trackhouse Racing. Chastain is in his 8th full season of the NASCAR Cup Series and has made 222 starts to this day. His last win came at the Cup race at Phoenix Raceway on November 5, 2023.
Chastain will also drive the #92 Chevy for DGM Racing in the Xfinity Series race, HyVee Perks 250 on Saturday.
Reflecting on his doubleheader, the American said,
"It's finally time for bringing the Cup cars to Iowa Speedway and I'm also gonna be running in the Xfinity race on Saturday. It's more laps; I love this track!"
2. Austin Cindric
Austin Cindric will pilot the #2 Menards/Moen Ford Mustang for Team Penske at Iowa. He is in his third year driving in the Cup Series.
The 2022 Daytona 500 winner reflected on the patchwork at Iowa that was done toward the end of May (via Ford Performance):
"I know they were going to pave over the patchwork in three and four that's been there for a little while, so obviously new pavement is gonna add grip. You're gonna have to run through it. I think it all just kind of depends on how wide it is."
3. Austin Dillon
Austin Dillon will drive the iconic #3 Get BioEthanol Chevy for Richard Childress Racing. Dillon has made five appearances in the playoffs in his 11 seasons as a full-time Cup driver. and is looking forward to his sixth.
Dillon is the 2011 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series champion and the 2013 NASCAR Xfinity Series champion. Among his various other accolades, a victory each at the Daytona 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 stands out.
Dillon is 31st on the Cup standings with 211 points to his name.
4. Josh Berry
Josh Berry will run the #4 Overstock.com Ford in his first full year of competing in the Cup Series for Stewart-Haas Racing. Berry has also made starts for Hendrick Motorsports, Spire Motorsports and Legacy Motor Club.
Berry won the 2020 national championship in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series. In 2022, he qualified for the coveted Championship 4 for the first time in his career.
The Hendersonville native is a 21-time winner on the Cars Late Model Stock Tour and has also competed in the ARCA Menards Series and ARCA Menards East Series.
5. Kyle Larson
Kyle Larson will be seen behind the wheel of the #5 signature blue and white HendrickCars.com Chevrolet. The Elk Grove native has already had three wins this season and is one of the favorites to make it to the top 4 this year.
Larson's most recent win came at Sonoma Raceway last week. Leading 19 laps in the 110-lap event, Larson held off Michael McDowell and Chris Buescher who ended up second and third, respectively.
Larson ranks first on the Cup standings with 561 points. The 2021 Series champion has had seven top-5 and eight top-10 finishes so far this year and has led a combined total of 675 laps.
The 350-lap IOWA Corn 350 will be held on June 16th at 7 p.m. ET. The race can be watched live on the USA Network and Peacock with radio updates on MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR radio.
