Ty Majeski Championship Win
Ty Majeski's route to the 2024 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship was a story of perseverance, strategic teamwork, and a sensational season of highs and lows. Entering the season, Majeski had already garnered a reputation as a race-winning driver but the hurdles he had to overcome were great enough, including a terrible track record at Phoenix Raceway, where he didn't have a top-10 finish in three chances. He grabbed two victories in the 2024 season, where the wins for Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP) and Richmond Raceway made him stand on the table with nine top-five finishes with 13 top-10s. The playoffs were impressive for him where he qualified for the Championship 4 as the final one to qualify into the event, once again proving his will to fight back for everything during the tough start.
Majeski started on the pole at Phoenix for the championship race in 2024 and led an astonishing 132 of 150 laps. At the line, Majeski was just 3.9 seconds ahead of his closest competitor, Corey Heim. Although he was an underdog at the start, perfect pit stops along with a great race strategy helped Majeski sustain the lead throughout the event after losing the lead only briefly to Heim in Stage 1. But the pivotal pit stop before earning back the lead created the speed in the latter part of the race for Majeski. This was with the help of his spotter, Brian Lyons, who provided him with important updates that saw him sail through the last laps without incident.
Majeski's career from being an engineer for ThorSport Racing to being in the driver's seat himself in 2022. This experience not only educated him on vehicle dynamics but also combined with an even stronger relationship with crew chief Joe Shear Jr., helped him win the championship. Majeski's win at Phoenix capped off the third championship in four years for ThorSport Racing and gave Ford its sixth driver crown in seven years. Majeski reflected on his journey and extended profound gratitude to team owners Duke and Rhonda Thorson for their steady and solid support in trying times in his career. This victory remained the dream of his life and also came as a witness to the proud racing heritage of Wisconsin, as he stood tall as the fourth local from the state to claim this prestigious title.
