Preece graduated high school in 2009 from Xavier High School. Preece’s racing career began in 2007. He was 32nd in the Northeastern Midget Association Championship racing for Bertrand Team. He finished on the podium for the first time in 2008 at Monadnock. He came third in his only Northeastern Midget race in 2008.
Preece also competed in and won the championship in the SK Modified Series. He won the championship in 2011 at the Stafford Motor Speedway.
