Brad Sweet is a prominent figure in Sprint Car racing, renowned for his six World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championships. Beyond the Sprint Car world, he is recognized in the NASCAR community, both as a former racer and as Kyle Larson's brother-in-law.
Sweet began his professional racing career with Midget and Sprint Cars in the early 2000s. The California-born racer drove for Kasey Kahne Racing in the USAC National Midget and World of Outlaws series. In the 2009 season, Sweet transitioned to Asphalt racing, making part-time appearances in the ARCA Re/Max and Craftsman Truck Series with Stringer Motorsports.
Courtesy of his decent performances, he evetually became a part of Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s JR Motorsports in the Xfinity Series in 2013, albeit as a Development and part-time driver. However, with no seats available after 2013, Sweet returned to the Outlaws series in 2014.
His breakthrough moment came during the 2019 season, when he emerged as a World of Outlaws champion with an impressive tally of 16 wins. Since then, he has maintained his dominance, securing five consecutive titles from 2019 to 2023.
Kyle Larson and Sweet became close after the former began dating the latter's sister, Katelyn. Sharing a common passion for Midget and Sprint Car racing, they founded High Limit Racing in 2023. The series has recently entered a multi-year media agreement with FloSports and expanded its event calendar for the 2024 season.
"Brad (Sweet) and I literally grew up in this sport and our passion for sprint car racing runs deep. The 2023 High Limit season went well, but we saw room for growth and more opportunities that were out there to make this division of racing stronger," Larson said during a media interaction in 2023.
"Not only are we going to continue to run tight, highly-entertaining races for the fans, but we’re going to do it while raising purses and making the sport more financially viable for drivers and teams. On top of that, the partnership with FloSports will bring more eyeballs to our events and grow the sport overall. I can’t think of a much better situation for all involved,” he added.
As of 2024, High Limit Racing has become a part of the national touring series along with World of Outlaws.
"Really gratifying to win the inaugural championship" - Kyle Larson's brother-in-law on winning the inaugural High Limit Racing season
Kasey Kahne Racing driver Brad Sweet has secured the inaugural High Limit Racing championship title in 2024. The co-owner of the new Sprint Car series expressed his delight during a post-race interview at Texas Motor Speedway.
"We weren't sure what to expect over here. We had to go to a lot of new tracks this season, see a lot of new things, but it was really refreshing, a lot of fun. Different group of drivers, very competitive, a lot of driving really hard. A lot of young guys that want it," Sweet said.
"It was fun to race in the series for sure. Really gratifying to win the inaugural championship. My crew guys worked hard all year," he added.
Sweet, 38, took the title with a comfortable lead of 297 points over runner-up Tyler Courtney.
