Deion Sanders' Colorado Buffaloes have done well this season, with an 8-2 record. As they gear up to face the Kansas Jayhawks, questions are being raised about the team's readiness for the matchup.

A FOX reporter asked Buffs coach Deion Sanders how he plans to deal with the pressure of preparing for the Kansas game:

"The stakes get bigger and bigger with every game. Do you lean into the stakes and the pressure, or do you downplay them to your team?"

Sanders seemed almost insulted by the question as he answered:

“Look at me man, do I look like I subscribe to pressure, or do I look like I apply it? We apply pressure. We don’t subscribe to it.”

Deion Sanders is known for his no-nonsense approach to coaching and life. He famously said that he doesn’t allow himself to have a bad day, and this mindset has spilled over to his coaching career.

This isn't a new philosophy for Coach Prime. In 2023, he told the panel of Undisputed:

“We shouldn’t be receiving pressure. Let’s apply pressure. That’s the way we gotta go about it. You apply pressure. We don’t sit back. We hit. We swing first because we know it’s going down.”

The Buffs have two regular season games left, and with Kansas’ surprise win against BYU, the path to the Big 12 title seems clearer. However, as they approach their goal, the team will likely be feeling the heat, but Coach Prime isn't having it.

Deion Sanders shuts down linebacker's celebration with harsh reminder

Deion Sanders’ approach to coaching reflects in every aspect of the game, including celebrations. During Saturday’s game against the Utah Utes, Buffaloes linebacker Nikhai Hill-Green took a celebration too far for Sanders' liking.

After stopping a Utes drive, the former Michigan and Charlotte linebacker smacked his hand against his hip to represent a spanking. That didn't sit well with Coach Sanders, who immediately called him out:

“This is not the NFL! These refs throw penalties on that. Do not do that!”

The player realized the seriousness of the situation aand replied:

“Yes, sir!” and focused his attention back on the game.

Although many have questioned the NCAA’s standards, the fact remains that Hill-Green’s celebration could have led to a 15-yard penalty. That could have proven disastrous for the Buffs, who needed the win against Utah.

Colorado won in dominant fashion, with a 49-24 victory, making it the fourth straight game they've won by over 20 points. The next two games are even more crucial for the Buffaloes, so expect Coach Prime’s approach to continue.
