With Nyheim Hines' trade to the Buffalo Bills, the AFC East leaders added another weapon to their star-studded offense. The running back had five productive seasons with the Indianapolis Colts and is now bound to provide some stiff competition for Devin Singletary and James Cook in Buffalo. By getting Hines before the NFL trade deadline, Sean McDermott appears to be indicating that his team is prepared to push for Super Bowl glory.
Hines still has two years remaining on the three-year, $18.6 million deal he signed with the Indianapolis Colts. The newly-acquired Bills star has a base salary of $3.3 million this year, which increases to $4.45 million in 2023 and $5.1 million in 2024. Each year includes $340,000 in total per-game roster bonus money. However, the running back's deal has no guaranteed money following this season. The Bills can, therefore, release him without any dead money repercussions.
