Early Life
Christian Eriksen was born on February 14, 1992, in Middelfart, Denmark. From a young age, Eriksen showed an interest in football and began playing for his local club, Middelfart G&BK. He quickly stood out as a talented player and was scouted by Odense Boldklub, one of the top clubs in Denmark. He joined their academy at the age of 13.
Club Career
He made his professional debut for Ajax on January 17, 2010, in a league match against NAC Breda. His first goal came two months later when he scored in the 6-0 win against Go Ahead Eagles in the Dutch Cup. In his debut season, Eriksen helped Ajax win the Eredivisie title, scoring seven goals and providing 16 assists in 44 appearances across all competitions.
Over the course of the next few seasons, Eriksen continued to play a vital role for Ajax, helping the team win three consecutive Eredivisie titles between 2011 and 2014.
In 2013, Eriksen was signed by Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League, where he spent six seasons before moving to Inter Milan in 2020. During his time at Tottenham, Eriksen was a key player for the team, helping them reach the UEFA Champions League final in 2019. He made 305 appearances for the Spurs, scoring 69 goals.
At Inter Milan, Eriksen initially struggled to establish himself in the team's starting lineup but began to find his form towards the end of the 2020-2021 season. He helped Inter win the Serie A title in 2021, their first league title in over a decade.
In October 2021, it was announced that Eriksen wasn’t eligible to play in Serie A anymore due to the presence of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator he had implanted after suffering a cardiac arrest during a game at Euro 2020. Therefore, in January 2022, he joined Premier League side Brentford on loan on a six-month contract.
He impressed on his return to the Premier League and was bought by Manchester United in July 2022 on a three-year deal. Despite missing the EFL Cup final in February 2023, he was part of the winning squad as United defeated Newcastle United 2-0 in the final.
International Career
After impressing at the U17 level, where Eriksen scored nine goals in 16 matches, Erikson was called in for the senior team in 2010. He made his debut in a friendly against Austria and became Denmark's fourth youngest full international. He also went on to play in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, where he was the youngest player in the competition.
He also played a pivotal role in Denmark's qualification for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, scoring 11 goals in 12 matches during the campaign. At the tournament, Eriksen scored one of the goals of the tournament in Denmark's opening match against Peru, helping his team secure a 1-0 win.
Eriksen has also represented Denmark at the UEFA European Championship, playing in the 2012, 2016, and 2020 tournaments. At Euro 2020, Eriksen was involved in a medical emergency on the pitch during Denmark's opening match against Finland, when he suffered a cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated on the pitch and subsequently underwent successful surgery.
He miraculously recovered and was able to return to football the following year. Eriksen returned to international football on 26 March 2022, coming on at half-time in a 4–2 loss against the Netherlands, scoring two minutes into his return.
