10 best Elite TM moves for Pokemon GO PvP

Elite TMs are some of Pokemon GO's most coveted consumable items. Just like in the main series, these items are used in the game to teach new moves to creatures. However, unlike the main game franchise, GO's TMs reroll the creature's moves into another on their move list, rather than teaching them one move specifically.

Elite TMs differ from the standard variety by granting the monster it is used on access to a special move that is often better than any other in their kit. Of course, some of these moves are much better than others, so many players would appreciate knowing which monsters are worth using this series of items on.

1) Draco Meteor

Here are the stats for Draco Meteor in PvP:

  • Type: Dragon
  • Base Power: 150
  • Energy Cost: 65

This move is learned by almost every Dragon-type Pseudo-Legendary, being introduced for that species' respective Community Day. This attack also lowers the user's attack stat after using it, so it is best used after the opponent has burned their barriers.

2) Frenzy Plant

Frenzy Plant is learnable by every Grass-type Starter across the franchise (Image via The Pokemon Company)

Here are the stats for Frenzy Plant in Pokemon GO's trainer battles:

  • Type: Grass
  • Base Power: 100
  • Energy Cost: 45

Every Grass-type Starter in the franchise will learn this move, with a new one gaining access to the move when their respective Community Day comes to live servers. This is the ultimate Grass-type attack, making it the best move of its element.

3) Blast Burn

Blast Burn is the signature move that can be learned by every Fire-type Starter Pokemon

Here are the stats for Blast Burn when used for Battle League fights in Pokemon GO:

  • Type: Fire
  • Base Power: 110
  • Energy Cost: 50

Much like Frenzy Plant, Blast Burn is a Charged Attack that can be learned by every fully-evolved Fire-type Starter in the franchise. As of writing, it is only available for the first seven generations of Fire-type Starters. While there are Legendary Pokemon with stronger Fire-type signature moves, Blast Burn is the most accessible for its power.

4) Hydro Cannon

Hydro Cannon is a strong Water-type move only accessible to Starter Pokemon (Image via The Pokemon Company)

Here is what trainers should know about Hydro Cannon if they intend on using it in PvP:

  • Type: Water
  • Base Damage: 80
  • Energy Cost: 40

While it may appear weaker than its variants of other types, this is the signature move learned by all Water-type Starters. Its low energy cost compared to other strong options makes it incredibly spammable as well. Again, while there are Legendary signature moves that are better, Hydro Cannon is amazingly accessible.

5) Precipice Blades

Here is the information about Precipice Blades when used in PvP:

  • Type: Ground
  • Base Power: 130
  • Energy Cost: 60

This attack is the signature move of Groudon. Being the best Ground-type Pokemon in the game, Groudon's high stats enhance this move's damage output. Additionally, Groudon has a Shadow variant in the game, which further increases the damage output of this move by 20%.

6) Origin Pulse

Here are the stats for Origin Pulse when it is used in Pokemon GO's Battle League:

  • Type: Water
  • Base Power: 130
  • Energy Cost: 60

This attack is the signature move of Kyogre, so it is almost identical to its counterpart, Groudon's, iconic attack. Once again, Kyogre also has a Shadow variant, meaning the potential damage output for this attack can be truly unreal. This is also the best Water-type attack in Pokemon GO, being a straight upgrade to Hydro Pump, costing significantly less energy.

7) Aeroblast

Aeroblast is Lugia's signature move (Image via The Pokemon Company)

Here are the stats for the strongest Flying-type attack in the game, Aeroblast:

  • Type: Flying
  • Base Power: 170
  • Energy Cost 75

Aeroblast is the signature attack of Lugia. This move has gotten a few different variants through events, with Aeroblast + and ++ being upgrades to the move's damage in Raid Battles. Nevertheless, this move's base variant can always be taught to Lugia through Elite TMs.

8) Zap Cannon

Zap Cannon is the best move for Registeel, as it grants it the upper hand against Water-types that can outlast it otherwise (Image via The Pokemon Company)

Here is all the information players should know about Zap Cannon in Pokemon GO:

  • Type: Electric
  • Base Power: 150
  • Energy Cost: 80

Using an Elite Charged TM, players can teach this move to Jolteon or Registeel. However, the move serves best on Registeel due to its access to Lock-On granting it the ability to frequently spam this move. Registeel is the best Legendary Pokemon for both the Great and Ultra League, with this move surely contributing to its popularity.

9) Sacred Fire

Here is everything to know about Sacred Fire, one of Pokemon GO's strongest Fire-type attacks:

  • Type: Fire
  • Base Power: 130
  • Energy Cost: 65

Sacred Fire is the signature attack of the Legendary Ho-oh, but Entei also gains access to this attack in the main series, so it may be added to its arsenal in the future. Much like Aeroblast, the signature move of Ho-oh's counterpart, this move also received powered-up shadow variants during a previous event.

10) Meteor Beam

Here is what trainers should know if they intend to use Meteor Beam for trainer battles in Pokemon GO:

  • Type: Rock
  • Base Power: 120
  • Energy Cost: 60

Meteor Beam is a charged attack best suited for Gigalith, as it is the Pocket Monster's Elite Charged Move introduced during its Community Day event. This is also the strongest Rock-type move available in the game as of writing, making it a worthwhile investment if players intend to use Gigalith for their battles.
