Trick Magic is a Pokemon Scarlet and Violet online competition where players can only use Ghost-type creatures. The pool of what's available is naturally quite limited. More importantly, anybody seeking to win should take advantage of the fastest options around or those with a great type. Remember, the Ghost typing is weak to itself.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers can register for Trick Magic from October 23, 2023, to November 5, 2023. The actual battles will take place from November 3, 2023, to November 5, 2023. Participating in at least one bout gives you 10,000 League Points, but some players may prefer to win for their competitive ego.

Five great Ghost-types to use in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Trick Magic
1) Hisuian-Zoroark
Having something immune to Ghost-type attacks in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is incredibly good. Hisuian Zoroark is the only fully-evolved Normal/Ghost-type creature in the games, giving it a valuable niche in Trick Magic. Its base Sp. Atk stat of 125 and Speed of 110 are also pretty solid to ensure that it's not dead weight.
The only type that Hisuian-Zoroark is weak to is Dark, which isn't too common in this format. This is due to the fact that most opponents already run a Ghost-type move, which would have the same weaknesses as a Dark-type one.
2) Dragapult
The fastest Ghost-type creature is usually better than its contemporaries by virtue of being able to hit anything that shares its type with a super-effective move. Dragapult has a base Speed stat of 142, which is very high. Calyrex-Shadow might be faster, but it's also not eligible to be used in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Trick Magic.
Dragapult is also a Pseudo-Legendary Pokemon, which means it has high overall base stats. It's been a competitive staple since its debut back in Generation VIII and is still excellent even in the regular meta-game.
3) Flutter Mane
Flutter Mane might be a little slower than Dragapult with a base Speed stat of 135, but it still has the honor of being the most used Ghost-type creature in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's VGC metagame, based on current Pikalytics data. Both its Sp. Atk and Sp. Def have base stats of 135, meaning Flutter Mane is quite potent on the Special side.
Generally speaking, you can get away with having Flutter Mane and Dragapult on your team for Trick Magic since they're both phenomenal choices.
4) Mimikyu
The iconic Mimikyu isn't the best Ghost-type creature in normal competitive battles, but it can have a good niche in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Trick Magic competition. Disguise allows it to take any hit once, which means it is nearly guaranteed to survive a blow and retaliate with one of its own.
You could Swords Dance and then use either Shadow Claw or Shadow Sneak, depending on the Speed of your opponent. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet trainers are nigh guaranteed at least one turn of setup, making Mimikyu a solid choice.
5) Basculegion
Last Respects might only cap at 150 Base Power in Trick Magic since it's a 3 vs 3 bout, but that's still more than enough to destroy most foes in a single hit. Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players just need to make sure that Basculegion holds a Mirror Herb and has an empty move slot to learn the move from Houndstone in a Picnic.
A Choice Scarf Basculegion could be deadly in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's Trick Magic competition since only Hisuian-Zoroark would want to switch into its Last Respects.
