The Bug and Fighting-type Buzzwole in Pokemon GO is an Ultra Beast from the Alola region. It regularly appears alongside Pheromosa and Xurkitree in 5-star raids. When the beast is taken down, the raid-hosting Gym offers encounters with its regular and Shiny forms. However, since the high-tier competition is challenging to conquer, trainers need a team of excellent counters against Buzzwole in the mobile game.
Pocket Monsters that can go toe-to-toe against Buzzwole are types of mons with Psychic, Fire, Fairy, and Flying, where the latter is super-effective when it comes to tackling Buzzwole. Its damage output can be further increased by 1.2x with the STAB effect.

Five best counter Pokemon to beat Buzzwole in Pokemon GO
1) Yveltal
A high-level Yveltal shows no mercy to Buzzwole in Pokemon GO. It is a dual Flying and Dark-type Pocket Monster accessing a versatile set of move pools, ranging from Fairy to Fighting. Trainers can bring down the Ultra Beast in raids by setting up the Fast Move Gust and the Charged Move Oblivion Wing for Yveltal.
When facing the Swollen Pokemon in PvP, GO Battle League, or Trainer Battles, Yveltal should master Gust as the Fast Attack and Hurricane as well as Oblivion Wing as the Charged Attack. That said, Buzzwole cannot stand a chance against the Legendary Pokemon Yveltal in any battle format.
2) Rayquaza
The most fearful Pokemon of all time, Rayuqaza, can make quick work of Buzzwole in Pokemon GO raids, GO Battle League, and Trainer Battles. This Legendary is a Flying and Dragon-type species that knows its signature move, Dragon Ascent, a special card that allows Rayquaza to evolve into Mega Rayquaza. Both forms of the Sky High Pokemon can be used to hurt Buzzwole in PvE mode.
In raids, Rayquaza should master Air Slash and Aerial Slash to defeat Buzzwole. Meanwhile, the Dragon must be taught the former, Hurricane, and Dragon Ascent for the GO Battle League match.
3) Moltres
Representing the Legendary Bird Trio, Moltres boasts Fire and Flying-type prowess. Thanks to this, Pokemon like Pheromosa and Buzzwole in Pokemon GO can never lift their head in front of it. A Moltres becomes a killing machine for entities with Flying-type weaknesses, which is why you need to equip it with the Fast Move Air Attack and the Charged Move Wing Attack. Thankfully, this setup automatically activates the STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) effect.
While challenging Buzzwole in PvP perspectives, replace the older Fast Move of Moltres with Wing Attack and the Charged Moves with Wing Attack and Overheat. Remember, the Ultra Beast is 160% weak to the latter.
4) Staraptor
Many Pokemon that resemble birds are super-effective counters for Buzzwole in Pokemon GO, including the Staraptor that hails from the Sinnoh region. The Fast Move Gust and the Charged Move Brave Bird should be trained to Staraptor to damage the beast mercilessly. Before charging the 5-star raids, make sure you increase the level of this counter for extra coverage.
In a 1 vs 1 fight, Buzzwole can not intimidate Staraptor. On the flip side, the latter, with the moves, Gust, Brave Bird, and Fly, is a formidable contender against the former in PvP settings.
5) Honchkrow
Honchkrow can unleash Dark-type prowess, but we only need the Flying-type to seriously hurt Buzzwole in Pokemon GO. The Ultra Beast can never stand tall against this blue bird wearing a blue hat due to its lethal set of attacks. Honchrow is inarguably one of the best raid attackers, so by teaching it Peck as the Fast Move and Brave Bird as the Charged Move, Buzzwole raids can be completed with less effort.
This Pocket Monster is also effective when it is about the PvP battles related to Buzzwole. In this situation, a trainer should provide Honchkrow with Peck, Brave Bird, and Sky Attack. Thanks to the STAB effect, all of Honchkrow‘s moves are highly devastating for the beast.
