Trainers can find beating Xurkitree in Pokemon GO extremely challenging due to its Electric-type battle capabilities. Still, you can choose Ground-type Pocket Monsters against the Ultra Beast. Where Buzzwole and Pheromosa have 4x type weaknesses against Flying types, Xurkitree is only 2x vulnerable to Ground types. Nevertheless, you can set Pokemon and moves of the same typing to enable the STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) effect for maximum damage output.

In this list of the five best super-effective Pokemon against Xurkitree, we exclude Mega Pokemon as they cannot be used in PvP battles.

Note: This list is subjective and based on the author's opinion.

5 strong counter Pokemon for Xurkitree in Pokemon GO

1) Excadrill

Undoubtedly, the best Pokemon to beat Xurkitree in Pokemon GO would be the Ground- and Steel-type Excadrill. Thanks to the Steel, this creature can resist multiple arrays of type attacks. Therefore, Xukitree as a 5-star raid boss cannot hurt Excadrill significantly, as the latter can withstand all of the Ultra Beast’s attacks.

Your Excadrill needs to learn the Fast Move Mud-Slap and Scorching Sands as the Charged Move for raids. Additionally, for PvP gameplay, it should know Mud Shot, Drill, and Scorching Sands.

2) Mamoswine

Another great counter Pokemon to take down Xurkitree in Pokemon GO is Mamoswine. Although it's not a Mythical or Legendary Pokemon, its niche allows trainers to damage the Glowing Pokemon.

To do that, in PvP, train Mamoswine the Fast Move Mud-Slap and the Charged Moves Bulldoze as well as High Horsepower. All these moves are of Ground types, so the counter can benefit from the STAB effect.

In the PvP mode, including the GO Battle League and Trainer Battle, teaching your Mamowsine the Fast Attack Mud-Slap and the Charged Attacks, i.e., Bulldose and High Horsepower, becomes essential to chip away at Xurkitree’s Hit Points (HP).

3) Rhyperior

Rhyperior's outstanding Ground and Rock-type prowess and access to multiple types of attacks, including Dragon, Water, and Fighting, make him a strong contender. However, only Ground-type moves can counter Xurkitree in Pokemon GO. Despite only boasting two super-effective moves, the Drill Pokemon can easily knock down the Ultra Beast in both PvP and PvE battle perspectives.

While using Rhyperior against Xurkitree in raids, make sure you provide the counter Pokemon Mud-Slap and Earthquake. Moreover, if fought in PvP plays, it can do much better with the Fast Move Mud-Slap and the Charged Moves Earthquake and Superpower. The latter has a special effect, which debuffs the user’s Attack and Defense stat by 20%.

4) Garchomp

The pseudo-Legendary Pokemon Garchomp is the best Pocket Monster to have in a raid party for Xurkitree in Pokemon GO. As a boss, the Ultra Beast can use the Fairy-type move, Dazzling Gleam, to counterattack the counter. By being mindful of this situation, teach your Garchomp the Fast Move Mud Shot and the Charged Attacks Earth Power and Earthquake for raid battles.

Meanwhile, Garchomp should master the same moves used for raids, but by excluding Earthquake, for PvP modes, which are the GO Battle League and Trainer Battles. In fact, this is the best moveset for the Legendary, and you have to train it what suits the best.

5) Krookodile

Xurkitree in Pokemon GO is extremely weak to the prowess of the Ground and Dark-type Krookodile. When this crocodile-like creature enters the raid arena to face the Ultra Beast, it should know Mud-Slap and Earthquake. The former has no special effects, while the latter boasts a 10% chance to decrease Krookodile’s Defense by 20%.

Krookodile can be used to charge Xurkitree in Trainer Battles. In this mode, the Pokemon must utilize the Fast Move Mud Shot and the Charged Moves Earthquake and Crunch. Here, Crunch has a special effect that allows the counter Pokemon to reduce the defense stats.
