Pokemon GO's Max Out season has been met with mixed reception following the release of more details about Dynamax Pokemon. After learning that using these creatures requires a substantial amount of grinding and a variety of other factors, many players' enthusiasm for the season has faded.

However, it is not too late to fix this mechanic in time for any future large-scale events that may feature these types of monsters. Here are five changes Niantic can make that would fix the new Dynamax mechanic in the eyes of the player base.

5 ways Niantic can improve Pokemon GO's Dynamax mechanic

1) Max Soup

Max Soup was an item introduced in the Isle of Armor DLC to give players a way to grant their creatures access to their exclusive Gigantamax forms. In the main series, players can grind Max Raids to gather the ingredients required to make this soup.

By introducing this item, Niantic could fix the common complaint players have of only new creatures caught through Max Battles being able to Dynamax. Niantic could make Max Soup a rare drop from Max Battles. The item would allow players to grant the monsters they spent the resources maxing out the capacity to Dynamax.

2) Better Max Battles

The GO Big event marks the debut of Dynamax Pokemon in Pokemon GO. However, the opening catalog of Dynamax creatures is a bit lacking in terms of variety. Only One-Star Raid Battles will be available, and the monsters featured are Wooloo, Skwovet, and the Kanto starters.

With the first impressions of these new types of monsters being relatively underwhelming, players do not have much to be excited about. If Niantic introduced the fully-evolved forms of the Kanto Starters as Three-Star Max Raid Bosses instead, the reception would have potentially been a little better.

3) Let Dynamax Pokemon be used in other battles

So far, Dynamax Pokemon can only be used in Max Battles. This does not make them very useful in the eyes of players who are uninterested in this new type of raid. If players could use these forms of creatures in other battles like raids or gyms as they can with Mega Evolutions, these forms would be much better received.

The biggest issue with allowing these forms in other battles would be the small battlefield. It would be hard for Niantic to fix this issue without reworking gyms and standard raids to accommodate these larger creatures. As they stand, Dynamax Pokemon are not worth the effort for most players.

4) Grind-heavy

Another negative detail about Dynamax Pokemon is the sheer amount of resources required to get them to their maximum power. Unlike other creatures in the game, Dynamax Pokemon require players to spend candies and resources to power up their moves, rather than giving each move a base power.

Given how much stardust and candies are already required to power up a monster to its maximum level, many hardcore raiders were upset at the news that these monsters would be a much bigger resource dump. Removing this feature and replacing it with the standard move system would be a much better idea.

5) New raid locations

Rather than allowing Dynamax Raid Bosses to appear at standard raid locations in Pokemon GO, Niantic introduced Power Spots to host these new Max Battles. These Power Spots have been appearing in strange places, like in people's backyards and outside of emergency service buildings. This goes against Niantic's waypoint guidelines.

These new raid locations were most likely set as a way for Niantic to more easily implement an enhanced arena background that is more appropriate for massive Dynamax monsters. Overall, the implementation of Dynamax seems very intrusive and has brought no real value to the game outside of giving trainers something new to grind for.
