With the event bringing so many Shadow Pokemon to Pokemon GO, players should know which of the species they should prioritize collecting over others. In addition, special creatures can be won by taking down the Team Go Rocket leaders. Here are five Shadow Pokemon players must catch during Adventure Week: Taken Over.

5 Shadow Pokemon players should look out for during Pokemon GO's Adventure Week: Taken Over

1) Shadow Timburr

Timburr is known for evolving into Conkeldurr, one of the best pure Fighting-types in Pokemon GO for both competitive play and Raid Battles. Having high stamina and attack, as well as access to Stone Edge, and a Rock-type charged attack that allows it to deal with Flying-types, Conkeldurr makes for a valuable addition to any collection.

Having already low defense, the amount of defense Conkeldurr loses from the Shadow Boost is much less significant. This is reversed for Conkeldurr's attack stat being much higher since the Shadow Boost increases the stat by a percent rather than a flat value. Shadow Timbur can be found from Team Go Rocket grunts using Fighting-type Pokemon.

2) Shadow Lugia

On August 10th, Shadow Lugia will be returning to Pokemon GO as a Shadow Raid Boss for the entire day. Being the big Raid Boss for the event, many players are bound to challenge this threat to add it to their collection. Collectors may also want to consider grinding out Shadow Lugia's respective raid as the monster can appear in its shiny variant as well.

When it comes down to Shadow Lugia's viability, it is seen as worse than its standard variant. This is because Lugia's main use in Pokemon GO is for tanking damage. With the Shadow Boost lowering the amount of damage Shadow Lugia can take, this makes it less valuable in the eyes of serious trainers.

3) Shadow Vibrava

Shadow Vibrava will be one of the many Three-Star Raid Bosses players can encounter during Pokemon GO's Adventure Week: Taken Over event. This creature is known for evolving into Flygon, one of the most beloved monsters from the Hoenn region. Additionally, it is one of the many Dragon-types many players use for competitive battles.

Flygon is a creature typically seen as a glass cannon attacker, with its Shadow variant only increasing its attack with little change in its playstyle. This makes Shadow Vibrava one of the more valuable Shadow Pokemon players can obtain from the upcoming Team Rocket event.

4) Shadow Cranidos

Shadow Cranidos is one of the many Shadow Pokemon that can be found as a One-Star Raid Boss during the event. It is also one of the Fossil Pokemon the Adventure Week events are known for. Cranidos evolves into Rampardos, a notorious Rock-type glass cannon that many players use for Raid Battles.

Since Rampardos is already frail defensively without the Shadow Boost, the defense debuff from being a Shadow Pokemon is rather minimal. This makes the Shadow variant of Rampardos much better than the standard form, making obtaining Shadow Cranidos a worthwhile investment.

5) Shadow Cresselia

Shadow Cresselia is the new Shadow Legendary added to Giovanni's arsenal for the event. Many players have expressed disinterest in this Shadow Pokemon. Similar to Shadow Lugia, Cresselia is a defensive Pokemon, so lowering its defense for its lackluster attack seems pointless.

Nevertheless, Shadow Cresselia will only be available for a limited time. This will make the creature incredibly valuable among collectors. With many hardcore battlers and raiders opting out, availability will be scarce, potentially driving up Shadow Cresselia's monetary value among buyers as well.
