Since the launch of GO, Niantic has been organizing Pokemon GO Holiday Part 1 and 2 events featuring new and old monsters. Whenever it does this, some costumed Pokemon are also available in the wild, eggs, raids, or research tasks. The devs have decided to introduce Holiday Attire Dedenne and its shiny variation, as well as Shiny Sandygast and Shiny Palossand this time.
With so many activities to do in this event, you may wonder whether you can farm some of the best PvP picks. Certainly, there are quite a few good PvP Pokemon to encounter and catch during the Pokemon GO Holiday Part 1 event. Let's get right into it!

Five strong PvP Pokemon worth farming in Pokemon GO Holiday Part 1
1) Latios
Mega Latios's Mega Raids will continue to take place throughout the run of Pokemon GO Holiday Part 1. These battles are the toughest to take down in this event, but with the help of the right counters and the assistance of your fellow friends, the job can be completed.
Notably, you can encounter the shiny form of Latios by defeating Mega Latios. This means that not only will you be able to add a powerhouse to your collection, but if you’re lucky, you can also get a Shiny Latios.
Counters to beat Mega Latios raids:
- Mega Rayquaza: Dragon Tail and Breaking Swipe
- Dawn Wings Necrozma: Shadow Claw and Moongeist Beam
- Mega Tyranitar: Bite and Brutal Swing
- Mega Garchomp: Dragon Tail and Outrage
- Origin Forme Dialga: Dragon Breath and Roar of Time
- Mega Salamence: Dragon Tail and Draco Meteor
2) Alolan Sandshrew and Alolan Sandslash
Alolan Sandshrew is among the many wild creatures available to encounter and catch at the Pokemon GO Holiday Part 1 event. Thankfully, its shiny variant is also featured in the wild spawn section. So, if you want to farm these Mouse Pokemon, you will want to go to locations that boost its spawn rates. The ideal areas are those with Snow weather conditions.
You can evolve your Alolan Sandshrew into Alolan Sandslash in GO by utilizing 50 Sandshrew Candy. Both forms are strong in different formats of the GO Battle League. While the former is good in the Fantasy Cup and Little Holiday Cup, the latter takes the cake in the Great League, Ultra League, Little Holiday Cup, and Fantasy Cup.
3) Aurorus
To get your hands on Aurorus as soon as the Pokemon GO Holiday Part 1 starts, you should first obtain Amaura by hatching 7 KM eggs. Amaura can evolve into Aurorus when 50 Candy is fed during the night time, so your main plan should be to collect its Candies.
You can do this by making an Amaura a Buddy Pokemon, and covering certain walking distances. The more you walk with Aurorus in the overworld, the more consumables you can earn.
Pokemon GO Aurorus’s battle capabilities make it a strong contender for the Great League, Ultra League, and Little Holiday Cup. Therefore, it is one of the must-have PvP pocket monsters.
4) Mamoswine
While Mamoswine is unavailable to obtain in the Pokemon GO Holiday Part 1 event directly, you can find Swinub in the wild. The family line of Swinub has Swinub, Piloswine, and Mamoswine. Among them, the latter is the most prominent fighter in the PvP meta. However, the only way to come by this monster is to find the base Pokemon and collect 125 Candies and a Sinnoh Stone.
If you already have a Sinnoh Stone in your account, all you need to do is to gather the Candies. It may be challenging to collect this huge amount of consumables during the run of the Pokemon GO Holiday Part 1 event. However, once you start your grind, this work can be completed in a couple of days.
Mamoswine is useful in the Master League meta, with a rating of #47. That said, if your Mamoswine has better IVs, it can perform excellently in this PvP mode.
5) Pyroar
Litleo, which is featured as a wild spawn in Pokemon GO Holiday Part 1, can evolve into Pyroar. There are two form variations of Pyroar in the game — Male and Female. Each has a different design; the Male one is subjectively more attractive, though, thanks to its lion-like appearance.
By collecting 50 Litleo Candy, you can evolve your Litleo into Pyroar in Pokemon GO. If you want to easily encounter this Fire- and Normal-type creature, make sure you visit places that experience Sunny or Partly Cloudy weather.
The reason is that the in-game Weather Boost effect improves the spawn rate of creatures that appear in these weather conditions. On top of this, the Lure Module and Incense can also be utilized to draw Litleo to your playing location during Pokemon GO Holiday Part 1. Among all the formats of the GO Battle League, Pyroar is best for the Little Holiday Cup.
