The Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary Party brings back the Johto Starter, Cyndaquil, along with Chikorita and Totodile. This cute, little, fire-breathing monster is a rare find in the game. Outside of special events like this, the Johto Starter Pokemon becomes difficult to encounter. Even when you go to its biome, which is Sunny weather conditioned areas, you may not meet it.

That said, Cyndaquil can be caught in the wild from June 28 at 10 am to June 29 at 11:59 pm local time. Plus, completing Field Research Tasks can also grant encounters with all three Johto Starters in Pokemon GO.

2) Party Hat Grimer

Party Hat Grimer and Party Hat Muk are two debutants rocking a celebration costume. While only Grimer with a Party Hat can be caught, you can evolve this form into a Party Hat Muk. Their Shiny variants are available in this event, so make sure you possess these rare Pokemon during the Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary Party.

To get Party Hat Grimer, event participants can battle in 1-star raids or initiate their search in the wild. Grimer spawns in larger numbers in places with Cloudy weather. So, be there, activate items, and get your rare Party Hat Grimer at the Anniversary Party.

3) Mudkip

Mudkip is an adorable creature that is popular for being a Starter Pokemon of the Hoenn region. It can evolve into Swampert, a powerful creature for PvP battles. During the Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary event, you can get Mudkip by completing Field Research Tasks or by searching for it in the wild. A wild Mudkip can only be caught from June 28 at 10 am to June 29 at 11:59 pm local time.

To encounter a Mudkip at this party, you can use items like Lure Modules and Incense. You should use these items in weather appropriate for Mudkip. Rain weather is ideal for this Water-type starter, so ensure you activate them there.

4) Chimchar

Chimchar can be found during the Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary Party event, starting from June 30 at 12 am to July 1 at 11:59 pm local time. This Sinnoh Starter, a Fire-type Pokemon, typically appears in areas with Sunny Weather. Head to such locations and activate Lure Modules and Incense.

The 8th Anniversary Party also offers Field Research Tasks that allow encounters with all Sinnoh Starters. Complete them to encounter Chimchar in Pokemon GO.

5) Froakie

Froakie and its shiny version are rare Pokemon available during the Pokemon GO 8th Anniversary Party event. Those who do not experience Rainy Weather conditions may have difficulty finding these frog-like creatures. Both are strong contenders for the Great and Ultra League battles once evolved into Greninja, considered the best Starter Pokemon.

To find Froakie and its shiny form, follow the same process as with the rare species Chimchar, Mudkip, and Cyndaquil during the event. Keep in mind that you can only encounter this Water-type Pokemon from July 2 at 12 am to July 3 at 8 am local time.
