Summer is coming to Pokemon GO, and with it comes the beloved GO Fest 2024 series of events. These celebrations give players worldwide chances to get their hands on some rare Pocket Monsters. They also set up some in-person venues for trainers to get together to trade, battle, and raid together.

Starting on July 5, 2024, a live event will be held in New York City and will feature a variety of rare critters, ranging from standard rare spawns or seasonal Legendary Pokemon.

1) Marshadow

On the official Pokemon GO Fest 2024 New York webpage, it is advertised that Marshadow will make its debut during the event. This creature is a Mythical Pokemon that debuted in the Alola region, much like Necrozma, Solgaleo, and Lunala.

During each celebration of in-person GO Fest 2024 events, players will receive a special research questline that will ultimately reward them with a Marshadow encounter.

Marshadow is a Ghost- and Fighting-type critter who may have some potential in the Ultra and Master tiers of the game's competitive Battle League.

2) Necrozma

As many fans could gather from the promotional material for Pokemon GO Fest 2024, Necrozma will be available during the event.

As is tradition, Necrozma will first be available to those who participate in the in-person venues through completion of its Five-Star Raid Battle. Additionally, the critter's new fusion mechanic will also make its debut.

The biggest draw to catching Necrozma comes from its ability to fuse with Solgaleo or Lunala to take on a different form. This alternative form changes its stats, movepool, and typing, just like Black and White Kyurem. However, its iconic Ultra Necrozma final form still seems to be absent from the game.

3) Klefki

With Niantic removing most utility from Pokemon GO, many specialists like Meowstic and Klefki have been made less viable and valuable to the average player.

However, Klefki has arguably become one of the most sought-after creatures in the game. This is because it is a Pocket Monster who only normally spawns in France. However, during these GO Fest in-person events, it will be available outside of its native region.

This makes GO Fest 2024 the perfect time for collectors to add Klefki to their Pokedex (if they live in the country so they can avoid the hassles of international travel).

4) Costumed Pikachus

Fitting with the theme of the sun and moon, two new costumed variants of the franchise's mascot will be making their apperance during the Pokemon GO Fest. These Pikachus will sport sun and moon-themed hats and will be available during different times of the day.

While they may not be the best at battling, these costumed variants of creatures are held in high regards by those who play Niantic's mobile game to collect rare Pokemon. These costumed variants often never make a return, so players should be sure to catch a pair when they can.

5) Heat Rotom

Those who attend the in-person Pokemon GO Fest celebration in New York should be sure to take as many snapshots as they can. By doing this, they may earn an encounter with Heat Rotom, an alternate form of the already-rare Rotom. These encounters can be found through any situation in which snapshots can be taken.

Most players choose to grind for these encounters by spamming snapshots in any wild encounter or in the Buddy Pokemon section. Once in a while, these snapshot encounters can make an appearance during events, but the critter often ends up being Smeargle. This is one of the rare occasions where a different creature will be appearing through this unusual method.
