Pokemon GO's Ultra Unlock: Better Together event was unlocked as a result of trainers working together during GO Fest 2024: Global, and it will take place on July 17-22, 2024. From the debut of two Paldean Pokemon, to XP/candy/friendship bonuses, to free timed research and plenty of raids, there's a lot to appreciate when it comes to the Ultra Unlock: Better Together event.

With that in mind, it doesn't hurt to examine some of the best reasons you should get excited for Pokemon GO's Ultra Unlock: Better Together event. Since the event is just a short time away, getting excited and getting prepared go very well together.

Five reasons to be excited about Pokemon GO's Ultra Unlock: Better Together event

1) The Arrival of Tandemaus/Maushold

With a title like Better Together, not too many Pokemon would fit the event better than the Paldean creatures Tandemaus and Maushold. These two Pokemon are different species but involve multiple mice-like Pokemon coming together to form a cohesive couple or family unit. This makes their arrival during this Pokemon GO event a perfect thematic pairing.

It's unclear how effective these two Normal-type Pokemon will be in the meta, but it should be entertaining to engage in Party Play. You need to do research to catch Tandemaus before finally evolving it into Maushold.

2) The Event Bonuses

Even if the catchable Pokemon aren't the highlight of this event for some Pokemon GO fans, the bonuses during its tenure might be. This includes quadrupled experience points from every caught Pokemon, double the candy yields from catching Pokemon, and more rapid gains of friendship between players by opening gifts and raiding together.

This can be an excellent way to level up, gain more evolution/power up candies for certain event Pokemon, or improve friendship status with other trainers in a hurry.

3) Rare Appearances in Raids

It isn't very often that the likes of Unown B and Unown T appear in tier-1 raids in Pokemon GO. The same can be said for the appearance of Hisuian Samurott/Decidueye/Typhlosion appearing in tier-3 raids all at the same time. Throw in appearances from Alolan Grimer and Hisuian Growlithe, and there are quite a few coveted Pokemon to obtain from raids that shouldn't be too difficult.

Even better, all of the featured Pokemon obtained in raids during this Ultra Unlock event can appear as their shiny variants as well. This might sweeten the pot for some trainers significantly, especially if they're in the process of catching all of the available shiny Unown.

4) Two Great League PvP Picks Indirectly Appearing in the Wild

Thanks to the addition of both Wooper and Paldean Wooper to this event as wild spawns, trainers have an opportunity to obtain two of the better Great League PvP picks by catching and evolving these two Woopers. Standard Wooper evolves into the bulky and powerful Quagsire, while Paldean Wooper evolves into the incredibly tanky Clodsire.

Both Pokemon have solid elemental type combinations while having very high base Stamina stats, making them excellent defenders in Great League PvP, especially against unshielded opponents.

5) New Tandemaus-Themed Avatar Apparel

While this might not excite every player, some trainers spend plenty of time and Pokecoins on their avatars in Pokemon GO, and these two new avatar items might be just what they're looking for. During Better Together, trainers can visit the in-game store to find the Tandemaus hoodie and slippers, which is a great way of showing support for GO's latest Paldean Pokemon to debut.
