The Pokemon franchise introduced regional variants as a way to revitalize certain older Pocket Monsters for a modern playthrough or to fit the new environments in a fun way. Ever since their debut in the seventh generation, regional variants have been a part of every new generation.
Since Mega Evolutions are set to return in Pokemon Legends: Z-A, many fans feel that these regional variants would be interesting to see in such forms. Listed below are five regional variants that would be perfect candidates for receiving these powered-up forms in the future.

5 regional Pokemon that deserve Mega Evolutions
1) Alolan Marowak
Alolan Marowak debuted in Pokemon Sun and Moon, possessing the interesting type combination of Ghost and Fire. It is a defensive creature that becomes incredibly powerful with the Thick Club item. However, it would be nice to see Marowak lean away from its signature item to rework its stat distribution into something better overall.
As it stands, Marowak is incredibly lopsided, being all defense without its signature item. However, it would be interesting to see how Game Freak builds Alolan Marowak to make its powerful moves, like Shadow Bone and Flare Blitz. A design that incorporates more mask aesthetics similar to Ogerpon would make for an interesting concept as well.
2) Hisuian Zoroark
Hisuian Zoroark is one of the best creatures from the Hisui region in terms of design. It also makes use of one of the most interesting type combinations in the franchise. Normal and Ghost completely removes the weaknesses to Ghost or Fighting that each type had, leaving Hisuian Zoroark only weak to Dark-type attacks.
Though Zoroark is known for its ability to disguise itself as one of its fellow party members, this effect goes away the first time the critter gets hit by a move. Game Freak could give its Mega Evolution an ability like Adaptability, putting it in the same tier as Mega Beedrill and Mega Lucario.
3) Alolan Sandslash
Alolan Sandslash had some serious potential in the competitive scene of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet when it was reintroduced, thanks to the rework to the Hail weather condition, making it snow instead.
Alolan Sandslash has the Slush Rush hidden ability, which doubles its speed stat in the snow. However, the critter is incredibly slow on its own, with it not being able to outspeed top metagame threats in Tailwind, even with full speed investment and snow.
With snow greatly improving the quality of Ice-type creatures, Alolan Sandslash with a Mega Evolution has the potential to be a top-tier metagame threat.
4) Alolan Golem
Alolan Golem has always been a solid choice in competitive play, thanks to its Galvanize ability making its Explosion attack an Electric-type move with boosted damage. However, this creature is very hard to use, and its sole purpose is to knock itself out, putting the player down a team member.
With a Mega Evolution, Alolan Golem may have more to offer than just a strong self-sacrifice. It has the potential to be a serious threat on Trick Room teams in the right hands, so building its Mega form to be a slow and bulky sweeper would be the best idea.
5) Perrserker
The evolution of Galarian Meowth, Perrserker, was one of the eighth generation's biggest sleeper picks due to how well its stats were optimized, as well as its pure Steel typing. While it does have high attack and defense, it would really benefit from having a higher speed stat, which could be added in the form of a new Mega.
If a Mega Evolution was granted to Perrserker, it would most likely need to be balanced out with a secondary typing. Dark would be the most probable option since it would leave it vulnerable to Fighting-type attacks while also tying in thematically with Alolan Meowth, another regional variation of the species.
