A new year has come to Pokemon GO, and with that, many players have begun to raise their expectations after last year's amazing GO Fest, which featured a new Legendary Pokemon with both of its alternate forms, as well as introducing the commuity to proper fusion mechanics. Understandably, many users cannot wait to see what comes next.
While little information is currently available about this upcoming yearly event, we can make some safe assumptions about what is to come by looking toward some familiar patterns established by the developers. Here are five things users should expect from the summer of 2025's Pokemon GO Fest event.

5 expectations for Pokemon GO's 2025 GO Fest
1) Featured Legendary Pokemon
Since the first GO Fest hosted in Pokemon GO, a Legendary Pokemon has always been the main focus. With GO Tour revolving around the Unova region, many users would have suspected Kyurem to appear in the promotional material by now if it were to be a focus.
With this in mind, it may be safe to assume that Black and White Kyurem will be reintroduced to Pokemon GO during 2025's GO Fest, complete with proper fusion mechanics. This could be handled like how Necrozma was available to fight within its two alternate forms for last year's GO Fest, but its base form was the reward for completing the encounter.

2) New Adventure Effects
Along with the theme of Black and White Kyurem coming in Pokemon GO Fest 2025, Niantic could also incorporate new Aventure Effects, like what was done for Necrozma's forms and the new Origin forms of Dialga and Palkia. These Adventure Effects could be tied to their respective signature moves, Freeze Shock and Ice Burn.
With Adventure Effects involving the player interacting with the world around them, these new effects could have ties to the weather, given their ice theme. Kyurem has also been seen causing massive snowstorms in the main series games, so it may allow players to temporarily create an icy storm to increase the likelihood of finding Ice-types.

3) A Mythical Pokemon
A Mythical Pokemon is typically encountered during the yearly GO Fest event through the purchasable ticket's research tasks. Contnuing with the theme of the Unova region, two particular Mythical Pokemon have yet to make an appearance: Pirouette Meloetta and Resolute Keldeo.
As Keldeo's alternate form is merely cosmetic, it is likely that Niantic would rather focus on bringing Pirouette Meloetta to Pokemon GO, as its base form has been available for many years now. While it is not confirmed that Meloetta will make an appearance, it is practically guaranteed that a Mythical Pokemon will be available during 2025's GO Fest.

4) Powerful Max Battles
Recent findings have revealed that something powerful is lurking deep within the files for Pokemon GO. With 2025's GO Fest being the first rendition of the yearly celebration since the release of Max Battles, Niantic may have some big plans for users daring enough to try what will surely be the most difficult challenge in the mobile game's history.
Eternamax Eternatus has been seen in the game's files, with many players being aware of its presence for quite some time now. GO Fest 2025 would be the perfect time for Niantic to finally release this threat onto live servers, challenging players with taking it down for the chance to get their hands on one of the most potent Legendary Pokemon.

5) New Shiny Pokemon
New Shiny Pokemon come with most events in Pokemon GO, and recent GO Fests have always included at least one new Shiny Pokemon for collectors to find. With the list of potential candidates to receive this treatment being as long as it is, it is currently impossible to tell who exactly Niantic will add in 2025's GO Fest.
Many Mythcial Pokemon have not had their shiny forms introduced, as well as several wild Pokemon. Niantic could also add multiple Shiny Pokemon, with the event ticket likely bringing a Shiny Mythical into the game.
