With a new year on the horizon, many Pokemon GO players are looking towards the future. One point of interest is what Niantic has planned for 2025's GO Tour event. This event typically takes place in February and focuses on one region and its main set of Legendary Pokemon.

With last year hosting the Sinnoh region, there is a high chance Niantic will follow the pattern and release the Unova region's GO Tour event in 2025. With most of the region's content already in Pokemon GO, Niantic may have to get creative to incentivize more players to participate in the event. Here are five details that would most likely be present in this rendition of the yearly celebration.

5 details that should be present for Unova's Pokemon GO Tour 2025

1) Kyurem's Return

Being one of the most important creatures to the Unova region, Kyurem will likely come to the game as a boss alongside Zekrom and Reshiram. Much like Necrozma from last year's GO Fest, Kyurem has the ability to fuse with the other two main Legendary Pokemon from its respective region.

While Black and White Kyurem have been present in Pokemon GO for some time now, they have never been obtainable through fusion. A Unova Go Tour would likely bring this feature to the game similar to Necrozma and its respective fusions.

2) Adventure Effects

Both 2024's GO Tour and GO Fest offered new additions to Pokemon GO, known as Adventure Effects. Certain Legendary Pokemon can use their signature moves outside of battle to grant passive buffs to the player in exchange for a few resources. It would be safe to assume that Black and White Kyurem will receive the Adventure Effects during 2025's GO Tour.

Both alternate forms of Kyurem have yet to have their signature moves implemented into Pokemon GO. White Kyurem's Ice Burn and Black Kyurem's Freeze Shock have not been added, and this is likely because Niantic will tie these moves to the next Adventure Effect. However, what they have in mind for these moves is uncertain.

3) Mythical Pokemon

Many of these yearly events typically include an encounter with a Mythical Pokemon through the event ticket that will be sold closer to GO Tour's commencement. Meloetta seems to be the best choice for a Unova GO Tour since its shiny variant is not yet present in Pokemon GO.

Introducing Shiny Meloetta through the event ticket would be a great way to incentivize players to purchase it. Coincidentally, Shiny Melotta has just recently come to the main series for the first time through Pokemon HOME. Releasing its shiny variant into Pokemon GO within the next few months would be the best time to do so.

4) In-person and Global celebration

Pokemon GO's yearly GO Fest and GO Tour have two distinct celebrations. One of these events occurs earlier in the year and take place in a chosen city. Here, players get access to most of the content from the later global rendition of the event. There are also advantages to the in-person event, like always having help for Raid Battles and getting to meet more players to battle, trade and exchange friend codes with.

The global event brings the GO Tour celebration across the world, bringing new raid bosses and other content to the mobile game. Much like how the global event has a purchasable ticket for players wanting more benefits from the event, the in-person rendition requires ticket purchases for admission.

5) Unova-themed spawns

With an event themed around the Unova region, it would be safe to bet that most of the wild Pokemon that can be encountered during the Unova GO Tour will be monsters debuted there. Creatures like Ducklett, Darmanitan, Dwebble and many more may be present during this event if previous patterns are followed.

Additionally, the Unova Starters and their evolutions are likely to make appearances as One and Three-Star Raid Battles respectively. However, given the recent addition of Dynamax in Pokemon GO, they may very well be Max Battle bosses instead.
