With Niantic unveiling some of the upcoming content for Pokemon GO in August 2024, like the Adventure Week event and GO Battle League updates, trainers are feeling good about participating in them to receive valuable rewards and Pocket Monsters’ encounters. July was fully dedicated to returning the Ultra Beasts to the community. That said, it appears that the franchise is following the pattern of bringing back powerhouses to the game for the next month, too.

The roadmap tells us that multiple Legendary Pokemon are set to return to Shadow Raids, Mega Raids, and 5-star Raids. Mega Rayqyaza Elite Raids are also coming back. With that said, here are the five things to be excited about Pokemon GO in August 2024.

1) Adventure Week 2024

Adventure Week 2024 is the first event that will be held in Pokemon GO in August 2024. It will start on August 2 at 10:00 am local time and run until August 12 at 11:59 pm local time. As always, the main highlights of this event are the Rock-type and Fossil Pocket Monsters.

What is exciting about Adventure Week is the bonus, which increases the chances of encountering Shiny Pokemon by hatching 7 km eggs and completing Field Research tasks.

Trainers should know that finding Shiny Amaura, Shiny Tyrunt, Shiny Archen, Shiny Tirgouga, Shiny Shieldon, and Shiny Cardinos will be less challenging during Adventure Week in Pokemon GO in August 2024.

If enough Candies are accumulated for them to trigger their evolutions, one can even get Shiny Aurorus, Shiny Tyranturm, Archeops, Shiny Carracosta, Shiny Bastiodon, and Shiny Ramparados.

2) Raid Bosses

Shadow Suicune is the first Shadow Legendary Pokemon that will appear in 5-star Shadow Raids in Pokemon GO in August 2024. On the same day, Mega Aerodactyl and Moltres will come back as Mega and 5-star Raid Bosses.

And that's not all - the makeup battle for Mega Rayquaza Elite Raids will also take place. When trainers face and win against the mentioned Raid Bosses, they can encounter their regular and Shiny variants.

The program lineup for the next month says that the Incarnate Forme Thundurus and Mega Kangaskhan raids will begin right after the end of the Moltres and Mega Aerodactyl raids. These names are going to be replaced by other bosses with the start of the third week of Pokemon GO in August 2024. The returnees are Xerneas and Mega Salamence.

3) GO Battle League rotation

Niantic rotates the formats of Pokemon GO’s GO Battle League (GBL) each month. The Fossil Cup - Great League edition and Ultra League will be the first two platforms that trainers can join.

In the former mode, Pocket Monsters that are of Water-, Rock-, and Steel-type are eligible to enter. Luckily, Adventure Week 2024 is a saving grace to trainers, as it allows them to encounter and catch multiple Fossil- and Rock-type entities.

When the Ultra League comes to an end, the Master League will start. Both, including the Fossil Cup and the latter, will run till August 17, 2024, at 1:45 am NT. Once they are no longer in operation, the primary modes of PVP will begin alongside the Catch Cup: Great League Edition in Pokemon GO in August 2024. Trainers must use the monsters they have caught during the Shared Skies season to join the Catch Cup.

4) Spotlight Hour

In August 2024, trainers can encounter and catch the featured Pocket Monsters of Spotlight Hour each Tuesday, from 6 pm to 7 pm local time. Drilbur is the first entity to appear in this one-hour weekly event. Its Shiny form is also available in it. The regular and the Shiny counterparts of Lileep and Mankey will spawn in the wild on the second and third Tuesdays.

Finally, the Magnemite will be the last spotlighted creature. Shiny Magnemite can be encountered in it, so make sure you play GO strategically for a chance to obtain it. Playing the mobile strategically for Spotlight Hour means using the Lure Module and Incense properly.

5) Popplio Community Day

In Pokemon GO in August 2024, the Popplio Community Day will run from 2 pm to 5 pm local time on August 31. During this period, trainers can encounter and obtain Popplio from the wild and the Research tasks. The likelihood of encountering this monster is extremely high. Shiny Popplio is also available but isn’t easy to encounter.

The Bonus Four-Star Raid Battle featuring Brionne will start soon after the end of this Community Day. Since Premium Battle Passes and Raid Passes are only allowed to join this raid, the use of Remote Raid Passes is restricted.

Those who evolve their Brionne into Primarina in the Popplio Community Day in Pokemon GO in August 2024 will get a Primarina that knows Hydro Cannon, which is a Water-type Charged Attack. It will even be able to learn the Charged Attack Sparkling Aria.
