5 player expectations from Pokemon Unite in 2025

1) Better communication options

Effective communication is vital in a game that emphasizes teamwork as much as Pokemon Unite. Currently, the game’s pre-set messages are restrictive and often fail to convey the nuance needed for strategic collaboration. Allowing players to customize these messages or even introducing an in-game chat option could bridge the communication gap, particularly for solo players.

This feature would empower teams to coordinate better, making gameplay more efficient and enjoyable.

2) Stricter punishments for griefers

While griefing has been an ongoing issue, the problem has intensified recently with players intentionally going AFK or disrupting lanes during the farming phase. Though the game offers some compensation, such as shielding rank points or providing in-game currency, these measures don’t address the root problem: disrupted gameplay experience for others.

Implementing harsher penalties for griefers could deter this behavior and maintain the integrity of matches, ensuring a fairer experience for all.

3) Ability to see opponents’ picks

One of the most requested features in the title is the ability to view the opposing team’s picks outside of Draft mode. Currently, players can only see their opponents’ lineups after finalizing their own builds, which limits strategic preparation.

Introducing a feature to preview the enemy’s selections would allow players to adjust their Held Items, emblems, and Battle Items accordingly, ensuring they enter matches with viable strategies.

4) A new ranked map

Since its introduction in September 2022, Theia Sky Ruins has been the sole ranked map in the title. While it was a refreshing addition at the time, its overuse has led to fatigue among players.

With Aeos Island offering five maps in casual modes, introducing a new ranked map or rotating maps periodically would bring much-needed variety to ranked gameplay. A fresh map could reinvigorate the competitive scene and keep matches engaging.

Matchmaking has been a consistent sore point in Pokemon Unite, with recent updates only leading to minor improvements. Players often encounter unbalanced matches that result in frustrating losses.

In 2025, fans will hope for significant advancements in matchmaking algorithms to ensure fairer team compositions. Balanced rank play would enhance the competitive experience and make climbing the ladder feel more rewarding.

From improved communication tools to balanced matchmaking, these changes would enhance gameplay and foster a more enjoyable environment for all. Here’s hoping 2025 brings these much-needed updates to Aeos Island.
