Pokemon GO's new Wild Area event is a new type of yearly celebration Niantic has decided to add to the game's roster. Aiming for a similar scale to that of the GO Tour and GO Fest, the Wild Area events aim to give every player some form of content to look forward to. Many players would agree that the recently concluded first run of this new event was a massive success.

Thanks to the many additions and debuts this event had to offer, the Wild Area event ended up being one of the most engaging experiences in the game's recent history for every member of the community. Here are five of the best things that made Pokemon GO's first Wild Area an event to remember.

1) Mighty Pokemon

Mighty Pokemon are rare variants of wild Pokemon that players could encounter during the Wild Area event. These types of creatures were fully evolved monsters with a higher chance of possessing better IVs and having an increased size. This made them incredibly popular among both collectors and battlers alike.

For the last 15 minutes of the event, players could encounter these Mighty Pokemon in higher quantities. Mighty Pokemon were also capable of appearing in their shiny forms, which increased their value exponentially among collectors. Hopefully, these rare spawns make a return for future events.

2) Costumed Snorlax

While costumed variants of Pikachu and other Starter Pokemon are a dime a dozen, a costume for Snorlax only comes around on special occasions. The Wild Area event brought a version of Snorlax wearing a fashionable leather studded jacket complete with Poke Ball pins.

Tempting players with the prospect of adding this dapper gentleman to their collection would make for a celebration in itself, but Niantic also released the shiny version of this particular Snorlax into Pokemon GO. This truly makes it one of the most memorable versions of Snorlax to come to title in its history.

3) Return of Cosplay Pikachu

Two of the rarest costumed creatures in Pokemon GO's history made their return during this event. Players could purchase a ticket for this global event, which offered more bonuses and encounters with various creatures. Players could find the two rarest forms of Cosplay Pikachu: Pop Star and Rock Star.

These forms have not been available since the Pokemon GO Fest of 2021, and have been a hot topic among collectors ever since. Bringing them back in the Wild Area showed collectors that Niantic was serious about making these Wild Areas an important and hype-worthy yearly celebration.

4) Diverse Raid Content

Not only did this Wild Area event debut Gigantamax Toxtricity into the title, but the game also provided players with the chance to get their hands on Origin Dialga and Palkia if they did not during earlier events. This diverse variety of raid content gave players who enjoy Raid Battles or Max Battles hours of activities.

Raid Battles are arguably one of the most important types of content that Pokemon GO includes, but they have been taking a bit of a backseat to Max Battles recently, given the Max Out season being themed around Dynamax and creatures from the Galar region. The Wild Area gave value to both Max and Raid Battles, incentivizing players to participate in it all.

5) Safari Balls

To incentivize more interactions with wild spawns, Niantic has released a new variant of Poke Balls to make capturing them much easier. Safari Balls have been a part of the main series since the very beginning, but have only just been introduced to GO as a part of this Wild Area event.

These special Poke Balls could be obtained for free every few hours by completing a special research task that only requires users to catch Pokemon and spin PokeStops. These types of balls also have a boosted capture rate, offering odds similar to Ultra Balls rather than the standard Poke Ball.
