One of the many aspects trainers enjoy about Pokemon GO is the different creatures they can collect. To emphasize this aspect of the beloved mobile title, Niantic introduces new content in the form of special costumed variants of many creatures for most special events the servers frequently host.

With many costumed variants coming to the game, many collectors may lose track of which ones have already been in the game before. While some never make a comeback onto live servers, others come back rotationally if their design fits the event's style. Here are the five most unique of these costumed variants.

Pokemon GO's 5 most unique costumed creatures

5) Ash Hat Pikachu

The Pikachu in a Cap has been an iconic variant of the Pokemon since the very beginning of the franchise. This costumed version of the mascot sees Pikachu sporting the hat of his friend from the anime, Ash Ketchum. While it is iconic, the design is far from unique, as Pikachu has worn Ash's hat several times in the anime. This exact variant has been available in a few main series titles as well.

However, the Pokemon GO version of this costume gets bonus points due to it being capable of evolving into Raichu, while still maintaining the costume. This marks the first occasion where fans can obtain a Raichu wearing Ash Ketchum's iconic hat.

4) Meloetta Hat Gardevoir

Meloetta Hat Gardevoir debuted during Fashion Week 2021 and brought an interesting twist to the standard costumed variants of creatures. While Gardevoir does look nice sporting its event-appropriate headgear, the big draw to this costumed variant is that it also includes a special move only learnable by this variety.

Sychronoise is a Psychic-type charged attack that is normally only learned by Golduck. However, it is learned by Gardevoir and Gallade under certain circumstances. This is one of the few costumed variants in Pokemon GO that come with an exclusive attack, and it was only available during Fashion Week 2021, so it is exceptionally rare.

3) Shaymin Scarf Pikachu

Much like Meloetta Hat Gardevoir, Shaymin Scarf Pikachu features a brand new exclusive attack that can only be found on this variant: Grass Knot. This move is a Grass-type charged attack that can be great for Pikachu due to it allowing the creature to hit Ground-types for super-effective damage.

This costumed variant of Pikachu could be found in Pokemon GO during GO Fest 2022. In addition, those who were ambitious enough to grind encounters with this creature could find it in its shiny variant. This infinitely adds to the rarity of the costumed variant as well, given how it has never made a return to the mobile game since its debut.

2) Flygon

Flygon is a fully-evolved creature that typically requires a fair amount of grinding to obtain in Pokemon GO. However, during Fashion Week 2021, players could catch a variant of Flygon equipped with a Meloetta Hat much like Gardevoir. This variant of Flygon also knew Earth Power, a Ground-type charged attack that it cannot learn regularly.

While it may not have been available in its shiny variant at the time, having access to a fully evolved creature so easily made for an excellent gateway for players to try out the competitive scene. Having an exclusive attack also made it a high-value monster for collectors.

1) Cosplay Pikachu

Cosplay Pikachu has many different forms in the anime and main series. While they are each counted as separate forms in Pokemon GO, Cosplay Pikachu can switch out of its costumes freely at the NPC delegated to the role at the Slateport Contest Hall. In Niantic's mobile game, each of Cosplay Pikachu's forms can be obtained through various accomplishments.

However, Rock and Pop Star Pikachu haven't been available since Pokemon GO Fest 2021, making them two of the most valuable costumed forms of Pikachu among many collecting communities. Pikachu Libre and Pikachu PhD can be found by mastering the Pokestop Showcase and Battle League game modes.
