Adventure Week is a yearly celebration in Pokemon GO where some of the most rare Rock-types or otherwise ancient creatures are introduced to the servers. Fossil Pokemon are typically the main focus for this event, as they are relatively hard to come by outside of Adventure Sync eggs.
With August 2024 bringing Adventure Week back, many long-term players are feeling nostalgic for the old days of shiny hunting Kabuto and Omanyte. Of course, some of these Adventure Weeks were better than others, mostly due to the content they provided. Here is every Adventure Week Pokemon GO has had so far from worst to best.

5) Adventure Week 2017
Understandably so, the first Adventure Week event was the weakest by far, mostly due to its lack of varied content. While it did present the Kanto Fossil Pokemon to the playerbase, this was all the event had to offer. Being in the spirit of adventure, however, the event did introduce a four times multiplier for candy generated through Buddy Pokemon.
For players interested in character customization, there was also a free explorer's hat they could claim for their avatar in the shop. Players could receive more items from Pokestops, and Poke Balls were 50% off at the in-game store as well. Overall, Adventure Week 2017 was solid for the game at the time of its launch and made for a solid base for future events to build on.
4) Adventure Week 2023
The most recent Adventure Week to pass as of writing, 2023's rendition of the event brought shiny variants of the Kalos Fossils into the game but did not offer any new Fossil Pokemon despite Galar still being missing from Pokemon GO. However, having the widest selection of Fossils and their shiny variants, the wild spawns for this event featured every Fossil Pokemon in the game up to that point.
The raids were also fairly decent for this event, featuring Mega Tyranitar as the Mega Raid Boss, and Regidrago as the 5-Star boss. While not the best creatures in the game, they still provided fans with a bit of content during the event. Additionally, this is the only Adventure Week event to feature halved egg hatching distances, which was appreciated.
3) Adventure Week 2018
The second Adventure Week in Pokemon GO's history was the first to feature the Hoenn Fossil Pokemon, the next two of the categories to come to the franchise chronologically. The raids for this event were also great, featuring Aerodactyl in its new shiny variant as well as Golem, one of the many trade evolutions in the game.
The event also featured a varied pool of wild spawns, ranging from Fossil Pokemon to more common Rock-types like Nosepass and Aron. Additionally, players could complete event tasks to earn encounters with Kanto's Fossil Pokemon. Since creatures obtained from research typically have higher IVs, this was a great deal for competitive players.
2) Adventure Week 2019
Adventure Week 2019 offered some of the best value among the Adventure Week events, with some of the best wild spawns arguably out of any Pokemon GO event in recent history. Offering Tyranitar and Golem as wild spawns, in addition to fully-evolved Fossil Pokemon, 2019's rendition of the event gave heavy value to Incenses and Lure Modules.
This event also offered some creatures that are not of the Rock element, like Absol and Alolan Marowak. One of the biggest draws to this event was the debut of shiny variants for the Onix, Anorith, and Lileep families of creatures. With so many ways to encounter these monsters during the event, many participants surely got hold of these new variants.
1) Adventure Week 2022
Adventure Week 2022 was packed with content for both casual players and hardcore raiders. Every Fossil Pokemon from the 1st, 3rd, and 4th generations are available in the wild, including their evolved forms.
Additionally, Larvitar and Pupitar were available in the wild. Special 7 kilometer eggs were also distributed that included Archen and Tirtouga, both of which received shinies that debuted during this event.
The raid content for this event was spectacular, as it featured both Mega Aerodactyl, as well as Groudon. Both monsters could be found in their shiny variants as well. Groudon is one of the best creatures in the game, so this event was a great touch for many Pokemon GO raiders and battlers.
