Appearance
Anorith is a small bug Pokemon with a greenish gray body and a bar that seemingly goes through its head. Its eyes are on either protruding side of the bar while the middle of its head is black but with two red teardrops shaped markings on it. It has an X-shaped mouth on the underside of its torso with two large claws underneath its head that are used mainly to capture prey. On each side of its body it has four white appendages with red tips, likely legs or arms, that help propel Anorith through the water like wings or flippers.
Behavior
Though it is now extinct, Anorith once lived in the ocean and it is still extinct, as a species, but many trainers have one as a result of resurrection with a Claw Fossil. However, Anorith are no longer able to live in the oceans because the composition has completely changed from when it was alive. Its arms are like oars, propelling it through the water at incredible speeds and it is considered the ancestor of modern day Bug type Pokemon.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Anorith is weak to Rock, Steel and Water type moves and will take twice the normal damage from them. It is not immune to any types but is resistant to Poison and Normal, which will only do half the damage. There is no advantage or disadvantage with Fighting, Grass, Electric, Flying, Fairy, Ground, Bug, Psychic, Ice, Ghost, Dark, Dragon and Fire types.
Best moveset (Anorith)
Anorith has a lot of strong moves including Double Edge, which is a move that has 120 power and 100% accuracy. Here are Anorith’s best moves: Double Edge has 33% recoil, Body Slam has a 30% chance of paralyzing the target while Dig burrows under the ground on turn 1 (which can avoid enemy attacks) and hits on turn 2. Finally, Earth Power has a 10% chance to lower the target’s Special Defense by 1.

How to catch Anorith in Pokemon Go?
Anorith can be found in quarries, parking decks, parks, gardens, meadows, nature reserves and other natural places. It has recently been spawning in a lot of places due to the Ultra Unlock: Time event in which Omanyte, Anorith, Lileep, Kabuto, Porygon and Cranidos have all received very increased spawn rates. It has also been in Team Go Rocket grunt’s teams and can be caught and purified. Furthermore, it has hatched from 5km eggs as well in the past and evolves into Armaldo at 50 candies.
Trivia
- There is only one Pokemon with the Swift Swim Ability that is also weak to Water: Anorith.
- Anorith greatly resembles brine shrimp with similar eyes and feather-like protrusions on either side.
FAQs

Anorith are overwhelmingly male. There are some female Anorith out there, but they are 87.5% male, so any Anorith found in the wild will more than likely be a male.
Is Anorith in Pokemon Sword and Shield?
Yes, Anorith and Armaldo are both available in both editions of Pokemon Sword and Shield without any DLC required. Anorith has a 10% chance of appearing in Ballimer Lake no matter the weather. Keep in mind that it will be a level 60-65 Pokemon and thus a difficult catch. Armando is at the same spot and will be a level 67 Pokemon.
Is there a shiny Anorith in Pokemon Go?
Yes. Many Pokemon have had shiny versions in Pokemon Go, and Anorith is one of them. The shiny Anorith is an orange color instead of the typical green and is currently at an increased spawn rate due to the Ultra Unlock: Time event.
Conclusion
Anorith is an extinct Pokemon, but many players are able to get their hands on one. It is in the majority of Pokemon titles, including Pokemon Go, though it has been difficult to find there. It, along with Kabuto, Lileep and Omanyte, has been part of one of the more difficult challenge sets in Pokemon Go, but with the Ultra Unlock: Time event, many players were finally able to get some of those Pokemon.
