Last Modified Nov 19, 2021 08:22 GMT

Introduced in generation six, with the Pokemon X and Y games, Aromatisse is a monotype fairy Pokemon. It is the final evolution of its two stage evolution line and evolves from Spritzee when traded while holding a Sachet as a held item. Aromatisse is classified by the Pokedex as the “Fragrance Pokemon” which is likely a reference to its general design. This guide will showcase Aromatisse’s capabilities in battle, its appearances in the anime, as well as other general facts about Aromatisse.

About Aromatisse

As a generation six Pokemon, Aromatisse first appeared in the X and Y season of the anime in the episode Battling with Elegance and a Big Smile!. In this episode, an Aromatisse was featured as the Kalos Queen’s Pokemon, a boastful position for performing Pokemon. Aromatisse evolves from Spritzee when it is traded holding a Sachet. There is no level requirement for this evolution and you can evolve Spritzee as soon as you locate a Sachet held item. The Pokedex mentions that Aromatisse has an overpowering scent and can utilize this in battle.

Appearance

Aromatisse is a large humanoid pink Pokemon that has bird-like features. Most of its body is pink, but the area around its beak is white and its eyes are red. It is a feathery Pokemon and it seems to be wearing a ruffled fur dress. There are two long ears on top of Aromatisse’s head and yellow streaks in each. Its eyelashes have grown longer since its pre-evolution, but its eyes have remained red. Aromatisse is a short Pokemon at only 2 feet and 7 inches, or 0.8 meters, tall.

Behavior

While Spritzee may have required a strict diet to achieve a certain smell, Aromatisse seems to be able to control its scent. In battle, Aromatisse will emit an overpowering smell to gain an edge against its opponents. The Pokedex states that its scent is so strong that a trainer can have a hard time walking alongside their own Aromatisse. However, it is still desired as its ability to produce sweet scents can be irresistible. In the anime, Aromatisse was shown to be a competitive performing Pokemon.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Aromatisse has a fairly weak lineup of base stats. Its health pool is decent and it has strong special stats. However, Aromatisse’s speed stat is far too slow to have it succeed in battle for long. Since it has a hard time living in prolonged battles, Aromatisse is often used in niche roles. As a monotype fairy Pokemon, Aromatisse takes 2x damage from poison and steel type moves. It is immune to dragon type moves, and is resistant to fighting, bug, and dark type moves.

Best Moveset

In competitive play, Aromatisse can fulfill some niche roles to support unique team compositions. Its slow speed can become a benefit when the Trick Room effect is active. The Aroma Veil ability can avoid disabling effects for Trick Room giving Aromatisse free reign to move first. Since Aromatisse is moderately bulky, it has no problems surviving most teams and can set up Trick Room freely. Consider running Trick Room, Nasty Plot, Moonblast, and Psychic/Hidden Power Fire. Nasty Plot is to ensure that Aromatisse’s damage is significant, while the rest of its moveset is meant to offer high accuracy damaging moves.

How to Catch Aromatisse in Pokemon Go?

If you would like to obtain a Aromatisse in Pokemon Go, the only way to do so would be to obtain a Spritzee and eventually evolve it into an Aromatisse. Unlike other evolved Pokemon, Aromatisse does not spawn in the wild naturally. Neither Aromatisse or Spritzee are available as raid bosses at Pokemon Gyms either. You can, however, find Spritzee spawning in the wild, at a boosted rate, near landmarks and places of interest. Spritzee can also be hatched from 2 km eggs. To evolve Spritzee into an Aromatisse, you will need to use one incense while Sprtizee is your active buddy. This will unlock its evolution and costs 50 candies.

Trivia

  1. Aromatisse is the only Pokemon in the entire franchise to have a base stat total of 462.
  2. The inspiration for Aromatisse’s design is likely based on a perfume bottle with a plague doctor’s mask.
  3. The name Aromatisse is a twist on the word aromatize.

FAQ

Is Aromatisse any good?

Aromatisse suffers from a slow speed stat making it useful for one particular strategy. Using it to set up Trick Room can beat opponents who are not prepared. This strategy tries to overlook the weakness of Aromatisse and focus on its strengths. However, it does not fit nicely onto any team you can think of.

How do you get Aromatisse?

In the games where Aromatisse is available, you will need to obtain a Spritzee and eventually evolve it into an Aromatisse. Spritzee was Pokemon Y exclusive in generation six (excluding Friend Safari), and it can be found in Pokemon Shield with generation eight. Spritzee typically has a 10% spawn rate where it can be encountered.

What animal is Aromatisse?

It is likely that Aromatisse is based on a perfume bottle rather than an animal. Its roundness gives the impression of a bottle and the strong smell associated with its design also draws the conclusion to a perfume bottle. Its mask can imply a connection to a plague doctor’s mask. In history, these masks were stuffed with pleasant smells.

Conclusion

Congratulations, you now know just about everything there is to know about this “Fragrance Pokemon”. While Aromatisse’s involvement with competitive play is limited to a specific niche, it performs well when everything works out right. Without an answer to the Trick Room strategy a lot of enemy teams can fall apart. Aromatisse can have a hard time against prepared opponents. Reserve a slot on your team for Aromatisse to have a slow defensive fairy type Pokemon.
