Appearance
Aron stands 0.4 meters tall and looks like a small quadrupedal rodent with a black belly and steel plating on its back, legs, and face. It has blues eyes that peer out of indentations in its face armor. This armor covers its entire body and is dotted with small black holes with a crest standing up along its spine. It also has what looks like a tail in the form of a small, blunt spike that sticks out from its back.
Behavior
Aron is simple-minded, tough, and brave with its focus mostly on eating but it will fight when irritated. It eats metal ores that it digs up from inside mountains although there are times where Aron gets hungry enough to eat structural steel, like bridges and railways. When Aron grows, it sheds its armor which are of great value to metal salvagers, who venture into the mountains to collect discarded Aron carapaces.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Aron’s Steel and Rock typing makes it a rather tough to beat Pokemon even with its poor Special defense base stats. It’s resistant against Ice, Psychic, Bug, Rock, Dragon, and Fairy-type moves, has double resistance to Normal and Flying-type moves, and is immune to Poison-type moves. However, Aron is weak to Water-type moves and takes double damage from them while taking quadruple the normal damage from Fighting and Ground-type moves.
Shiny Aron
The change between normal Aron and Shiny Aron is very subtle as the only thing that changes are its eyes. Shiny Aron trades its blue eyes for red eyes but as it evolves, into Lairon and Aggron, the changes become more pronounced. This dramatic palette swap makes it easy to spot Shiny Lairon and Shiny Aggron but the same doesn’t apply for a Shiny Aron. But like all shiny Pokemon, Shiny Aron gains a starry animation upon entering battle, so keep an eye out.
Best moveset
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Rock Head
Held Item: Eviolite
Head Smash | Iron Head |
Earthquake | Rock Polish |
An Eviolite coupled with Aron’s powerful defensive typing makes it a formidable wall in low tiers. Iron Head deals reliable STAB damage, Head Smash can deal tremendous STAB damage with no penalty from recoil due to Rock Head. Rock Polish allows Aron to outspeed certain threats, and Earthquake is a strong, reliable physical damage move that Aron can deploy against Electric types. A Jolly nature boosts Aron’s Speed and hinders its Special Attack.

How to catch Aron in Pokemon Go?
Aron can be found in the wild and as a reward for Special Research. It has appeared before as a Raid Boss although Shiny Aron is extremely rare in Pokémon Go. Aron evolves into Lairon with 25 candies, and Lairon evolves into Aggron with 100 candies but that is made easier since Aron’s Buddy distance requirement is 1km.
