It is the second stage evolution of its two stage evolution line and evolves from Cubchoo once it reaches the level threshold. Appearance
Beartic is a large white Pokemon that resembles an icy polar bear. Most of its body is white, but it does have large light blue icicles growing from its mouth. It stands on two legs and has two arms with three claws at the end of each. Beartic has a thick white hide and it is capable of resisting harsh cold. It has beady black eyes and rounded ears on top of its head, with it a massive Pokemon at 8 feet and 6 inches, or 2.6 meters, tall.
Behavior
The icicles that formed around Beartic’s mouth are likely because Beartic can freeze its own breath. It can traverse across water by forming a bridge of ice with its breath. In the wild, Beartic is typically only found in the polar north. Beartic can also form fangs and claws of ice from its breath to fight with. The Pokedex mentions that Beartic is capable of swimming and will often hunt in the water.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Beartic has a phenomenal physical attack and a good health pool to keep it alive, but it has an awful speed stat. Because Beartic is so slow, it is hard to utilize it as an offensive Pokemon. It is worth noting that Beartic can have the Swift Swim ability, but its base speed makes it not useful to invest in. While its defensive stats are not awful, its defensive typing prevents it from being a good defensive Pokemon. As a monotype ice Pokemon, Beartic takes 2x damage from fighting, rock, steel, and fire type moves. It has no immunities and is only resistant to ice type moves.
Best Moveset
Beartic is weak in terms of competitive play and since it often gets outspeeded, it tends to fall short of the offensive type of Pokemon. However, its attacks can deal significant damage and thus with a Life Orb, as a held item, any attack that connects will likely knock out the targeted Pokemon. Consider running Icicle Crash, Superpower, Aqua Jet, and Swords Dance. This set is aimed to try taking advantage of Beartic’s high base physical power and dealing the most damage possible. While Beartic is slow, you can consider the Swift Swim ability if your team can set up rain for Beartic. You will just want Beartic’s attacks to connect as often as possible.

How to Catch Beartic in Pokemon Go?
If you would like to obtain a Beartic in Pokemon Go, the easiest way to do so would be to first obtain a Cubchoo and eventually evolve it into Beartic. Like most final evolutions, its base evolution spawns more commonly in the wild which makes it easier to encounter. You can find Cubchoo spawning in the wild, at a boosted rate, near bodies of water, ski resorts, glaciers, and grassy areas. While Beartic has not appeared as a raid boss in the past, Cubchoo has been featured as a tier one raid boss at Pokemon Gyms. To evolve Cubchoo into a Beartic it will take 50 candies.
Trivia
- The inspiration for Beartic’s design is based on a polar bear.
- The name Beartic is a combination of the word bear and arctic. The word arctic also derives from ἄρκτος arktos, Ancient Greek for bear.
FAQ
How strong is Beartic?
Beartic has a powerful physical attack but it is slow in dealing the damage. Its speed stat prevents it from being truly powerful, but any attack from Beartic that hits will hurt. While its defensive stats are not awful, it has a weak defensive type which holds it back.
Who evolves into Beartic?
Cubchoo is Beartic’s pre-evolution stage Pokemon. It is a two stage evolution line and Cubchoo will evolve into Beartic once it reaches level 37. There are no other special conditions to fulfill for this evolution and Cubchoo will begin to evolve once it reaches the level threshold. After you have obtained a Beartic from Cubchoo, you have finished the Pokemon’s evolution line.
Is there a Mega Beartic?
There is no Mega Beartic in the mainline Pokemon franchise games. It is not likely that it will receive a mega evolution in the future as the developers have been moving away from mega evolutions entirely. While Beartic could benefit from a mega evolution, it is not going to be a likely addition to the game.
Conclusion
Congratulations, you now know just about everything there is to know about this “Freezing Pokemon”. While Beartic’s impact on competitive play is limited, it is by no means a weak Pokemon. Any attack that connects from Beartic will deal significant damage. While Beartic can be slow, it at least has a way to become faster in the right situation. An offensive Beartic may surprise you one day. Reserve a slot on your team for Beartic if you want an aggressive ice type Pokemon.
