Five memorable Pikachu episodes from the Pokemon anime

1) Electric Shock Showdown

When Lt. Surge and Ash Ketchum fight for the first time at the Vermilion City Gym in the Pokemon anime, the latter loses the fight. Lt. Surge’s Raichu is too much for Ash’s Pikachu to handle in the battle, resulting in the defeat of our beloved hero. This is because the protagonist is up against a renowned leader who possesses strong Electric-type Pocket Monsters.

Nevertheless, Ash faces the Leader for the second time with a new strategy in mind. The strategy includes Pikachu using its agility to land quick attacks. Lt. Surge says that he cannot win, but Pikachu emerges victorious anyway, allowing Ash to earn a Thunder Badge from the Leader.

2) Pace - The Final Frontier!

The Pace - The Final Frontier! episode from the Ruby and Sapphire season demonstrates another best moment of Pikachu. Brandon is the person that Ash challenges in this episode, who is the strongest Frontier Brain at the Battle Frontier.

Brandon owns a Regice, a Legendary Pokemon from the Hoenn region. Regice uses its Ice-type moves to change the landscape of the battlefield into solid ice ground. Moreover, it even freezes Pikachu to immobilize its movement.

Nonetheless, Pikachu finds confidence and uses its Electric-type attacks, Thunderbolt and Volt Tackle, to take down the Legendary Regice despite being at a severe disadvantage in the battle in the Pokemon anime.

3) The Climb to Be the Very Best!

In the Climb to Be the Very Best! episode from the Pokemon anime, Ash and his team see that the Gigantamax Drednaw is behaving aggressively. The protagonists try to stop the creature from destroying the stadium, but nothing seems to calm it down. Still, they manage to land a few hits on the aggressor.

The Giagantamax Drednaw pursues Ash Ketchum’s team, and during the chase, Pikachu somehow comes in contact with the Giagantamax energy. This exposure transforms the yellow mouse into a mammoth creature.

That said, our heroes finally take down the foe to save the day from chaos with the help of Leon, the Monarch of the World Coronation Series, who is watching over them from the stadium.

4) Showdown at the Shalour Gym!

The Showdown at the Shalour Gym! episode from the Pokemon anime is about demonstrating the power of a Mega and non-Mega monster. We know for a fact that Mega Pokemon are in their own league, thus, defeating them in a one-on-one battle is not only challenging but also impossible in many cases. Yet, Ash and his Pikachu manage to win against Korrina’s Mega Lucario.

Korrina is a Gym Leader from Shalour City in the Kalos region whose team comprises Fighting-type Pocket Monsters. While combating her in this episode, Pikachu displays the will to win against Mega Lucario, and it knocks the creature out in the final phase by landing a powerful Thunderbolt move.

5) Pikachu’s Goodbye

Pikachu’s Goodbye from the Pokemon anime is a heart-touching and emotion-evoking episode. In it, Ash, Brook, and Misty are resting in a forest. Pikachu notices that someone from its species is staring at it from the bushes. Ccuriosity gets the best of the pocket monster and it chases after the creature.

Ash and his team also follow Pikachu, and they see a group of wild Pikachu staying together and having fun. This beautiful juncture changes the heart of our hero, making him contemplate that Pikachu can live a happy life if it stays with the group.

After a long mental battle, Ash realizes that he was wrong about Pikachu wanting to leave him to be with his species, and he welcomes Pikachu back into the group. That said, this is one of the best episodes from the Pokemon anime that deserves a rewatch.
