Pokemon GO's upcoming December Community Day will bring back a massive buff for one particular creature, skyrocketing its popularity leading up to the event's drop. Unlike other Community Days, this month's will be held in two parts, over the course of two days — December 21 and 22. Each day will also feature different Pokemon, giving players a reason to check out both days.
However, this event brings you another chance to get a massively buffed Pokemon that has shaken up the metagame of the GO Battle League. Here is everything to know about this powered-up Pokemon, and why it is as threatening as it is.

In the December Community Day announcement, Niantic revealed that all Mankey who evolve into Primeape during the event will have access to Rage Fist. This was last available during the November Community Day event.
Rage Fist is a monumental win for Primeape's movepool, as it grants it a coverage option against Ghost or Psychic-types. While Primeape did have access to Night Slash before, Rage Fist has the advantage of granting Primeape a boost to its already-high attack stat with each use. This works great against tanky creatures, as it will allow Primeape to set up attack buffs.
Additionally, Primeape also has access to Karate Chop, another Fighting-type move that many others do not have access to. This move is incredibly fast and generates tons of energy so players can spam Rage Fist and whatever charged attack they choose to run in addition to Rage Fist.

What makes Primeape so great in Pokemon GO?
Compared to other Fighting-type creatures that will be distributed during the Community Day in December, Primeape has the most potential to decimate the competition. Following nerfs to Counter, Conkeldurr is much less reliable. Chesnaught only has Low Kick and Superpower for Fighting-type attacks, which is incredibly underwhelming and negatively impacts its survivability.
Even compared to its evolution, Annihilape, Primeape is simply the better option due to it being closer to the Great League's combat power limit, allowing it to level up more. Additionally, only Primeape gets access to Karate Chop, not Annihilape. This will make Primeape the go-to choice for players wanting to incorporate a Fighting-type into their battle party.
Knowing this, Primeape will become very hard to counter in battle. With access to Rage Fist, Ghost and Psychic-type counters will no longer be as effective. Primeape's presence greatly weakens popular choices for the format like Diggersby, Dunsparce, Galarian Corsola, and Alolan Sandslash, so the meta will likely shift drastically once these buffs reach live servers.
