Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's post-Indigo Disk PvP format Regulation G has finally reached the VGC, allowing formerly prohibited Pocket Monsters to join trainer lineups. This includes the Indigo Disk's mascot Terapagos, who can be used once per team in Regulation G PvP. However, without a solid moveset, Terapagos won't likely live up to its full potential as a high-end member of the current meta.

Fortunately, Terapagos' best PvP moveset in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is pretty set in stone as of Regulation G, and it's heavily assisted by Terapagos' multiple forms and Stellar Tera Type. With that in mind, it doesn't hurt to take a look at the moveset that Terapagos users should have plenty of success with.

Recommended PvP Moveset for Terapagos:

  • Tera Starstorm
  • Earth Power
  • Dark Pulse
  • Sleep Talk

Terapagos' utility has caught on immediately in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet's PvP post-Regulation G, thanks in part to its move Tera Starstorm, which when used by Terapagos' Stellar Form, can hit both opponents in battle if players are in Doubles. If Terapagos has Choice Specs as a held item, it can secure early-game KOs quite easily compared to much of the current PvP/VGC meta.

Meanwhile, Earth Power and Dark Pulse are provided to assist Terapagos' teammates with opponents they may not be able to hit or counter effectively. Moreover, Dark Pulse has a small (20%) chance to cause an opponent to flinch, and it counters another meta darling in the form of Shadow Rider Calyrex. Even better, Terapagos is immune to Calyrex-S's Astral Barrage.

Sleep Talk is a move that could be swapped for another in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet PvP but should ideally remain in the move list due to the presence of Amoonguss in the meta. Since Amoonguss' spores have been a meta staple and often put opposing Pokemon to sleep, Sleep Talk ensures that Terapagos can continue dealing damage even while it's taking a snooze.

Since Sleep Talk utilizes another known move, Terapagos has its full arsenal of Tera Starstorm, Dark Pulse, and Earth Power even when it would normally be inactive due to its Sleep status effect. This makes the job of debilitating Terapagos even more difficult for opponents, allowing it to continue working in unison with its allies even when an opposing trainer thinks they've disabled it temporarily.

All in all, Terapagos excels in the current state of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet PvP at the moment. It deals great damage and has solid type coverage, its Tera Shell ability allows it to reduce the damage of the first hit it takes, and its Stellar Form ability Teraform Zero allows it to remove weather and terrain effects. Given all of this, is it any surprise that it's performing well in the current VGC?
