Introduced in Generation three, with the Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire games, Breloom is a dual type grass and fighting Pokemon. It is a two stage evolution and evolves from Shroomish with the Pokedex classifying Breloom as the “Mushroom Pokemon''. While this label may be representative of its features, it more closely resembles kangaroos in real life. This guide will showcase Breloom’s capabilities in battle, its appearances in the anime, as well as other general facts about Breloom.
About Breloom
As a generation three Pokemon, Breloom has had many opportunities to appear in the anime. It made its first appearance in the Ruby and Sapphire season of the anime with the episode A Shroomish Skirmish, and it also appeared multiple times throughout other episodes as well as a few movies like Jirachi: Wish Maker and Zoroark: Master of Illusions. Breloom is the final evolution of Shroomish ,evolving from level 23 onwards. The Pokedex mentions its aptitude for fighting and its fleet footwork.

Appearance
Most of Breloom’s body is green with red accents around its hands and feet, and a lighter cream colored head. Its body closely resembles kangaroos from real life and it has a long tail that ends in a clove of circles. Breloom’s hands are red pointed triangles that can extend outwards while on top of its head is a mushroom-like cap. It is fairly short at only 3 feet and 11 inches, or 1.2 meters tall.
Behavior
Despite its short arms, it is quite capable as a boxer. Breloom’s arm can stretch outwards for rapid punches and its quick footwork can supposedly put professional boxers to shame. The spores it releases from its head can intoxicate its opponents and are typically found in warm and humid climates, feeding on trees and plants found in forests. While their behavior will largely reflect on their trainer, almost every depiction of Breloom is in a fighting environment.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Despite being part of a two stage evolution with relatively weak overall stats, it is quite formidable in battle. While its statline leaves a bit to be desired, its physical attack stat is stellar and along with the Technician ability, Breloom may deal much more damage than what is expected. As a dual type fighting and grass type Pokemon, it takes 4x damage from flying and 2x damage from poison, fire, psychic ice, and fairy type moves. Breloom resists ground, rock, water, grass, electric, and dark type moves.
Shiny Breloom
Shiny Breloom is a particularly distinct shiny variant. Almost all of its colors are changed as Shiny Breloom has a red body instead of a green body while its cream color becomes lighter in color. Even the red around Shiny Breloom’s hands are changed to fit with the color palette. This color palette makes it very easy to distinguish between regular Breloom and Shiny Breloom. Like all shiny Pokemon, Shiny Breloom gains a starry animation upon entering battle.
Best Moveset
Breloom has had an incredible impact on competitive Pokemon battle formats. It has consistently been in the top tiers of competitive play and only recently fell into middle tiers with generations seven and eight. With a Life Orb, as its held item, in conjunction with the Technician ability, Breloom is capable of One Hit KO’ing opposing teams with ease. Consider running Spore, Bullet Seed, Mach Punch, and Swords Dance/Focus Punch/Rock Tomb. Spore is a powerful disabling tool with a 100% accuracy, Bullet Seed benefits from STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) and Technician making it a reliable source of damage, Mach Punch provides priority, and Swords Dance/Focus Punch/Rock Tomb are interchangeable as type coverage options or as a way to set up.

How to Catch Breloom in Pokemon Go
If you want to obtain a Breloom in Pokemon Go, the easiest way to go about it would be to capture enough Shroomish to evolve into Breloom. Like all final evolution Pokemon, finding their base evolutions in the wild is much easier than finding the final evolution in the wild. Since Shroomish is a grass type, search near parks, farmlands, forests, hiking trails, and other grassy areas. It will take 50 Shroomish candies to evolve your Shroomish into Breloom but if you’re not up for the grind, then you can also find Breloom in tier 2 and tier 3 raid battles.
