Appearance

Bronzong resembles a large bell with its handles representing its arms. Its face can be seen on the front of the bell, marked by two red eyes and what appears to be a mouth between them. Most of its body is blue-green save for the gray markings across its body. These markings are found all over the bell-shaped Pokemon while the handles that make up its arms are long and slender. Bronzong is average height for a Pokemon at 4 feet and 3 inches, or 1.3 meters, tall.

Bronzong Appearance

Behavior

Most of Bronzong’s appearances are in the Pokemon movies where as a minor role. Its other appearances show it to be reliable in battle and a difficult Pokemon to get through. Not much is known about its behavior other than its psychic prowess and its obedience to its trainer. The Pokedex mentions that throughout history Bronzong was revered as it brought rain to grow crops. Bronzong’s cry sounds like the ringing of a bell.

Strengths and Weaknesses

While Bronzong’s physical and special defense stats are high, it has a low health pool to take advantage of this fact. It also has a painfully slow speed stat making it difficult to use in battle. Surprisingly for a psychic type Pokemon, its physical attack is stronger than its special attack. As a dual type steel and psychic Pokemon, Bronzong takes 2x damage from ground, ghost, fire, and dark type moves. It is immune to poison and if it has the ability Heat Proof or Levitate, it will also be immune to fire or ground type moves respectively. Bronzong is also resistant to normal, flying, rock, steel, grass, psychic, ice, dragon, and fairy type moves.

Best Moveset

While Bronzong was quite strong during its introduction into generation five, it has since fallen to the bottom of competitive brackets. While its defensive line was strong for its debut generation, it has become a weaker option over time. Nevertheless, it has a strong set of defensive stats that can be supplemented with a Leftovers held item and a reliable moveset. Consider running Stealth Rock, Gyro Ball, Toxic, and Earthquake. Stealth Rock can provide a lot of chip damage to the enemy team, Gyro Ball benefits from STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus), Toxic can help you win a prolonged fight, and Earthquake is for type coverage.

How to Catch Bronzong in Pokemon Go

If you would like to obtain a Bronzong in Pokemon Go, the easiest way would be to obtain a Bronzor to eventually evolve into Bronzong. Like most final evolution Pokemon, its base evolution is a more common spawn as compared to Bronzong to encounter in the wild. You can obtain a Bronzor in the wild by checking residential areas at night, hospitals, grassy areas, or any industrial areas. Bronzor can also be hatched from 5 and 7 km eggs. You will need 50 Bronzor candies in order to evolve it into Bronzong. But if you want to skip the candy collection, you can find Bronzong in tier three and tier four raid battles in Pokemon Gyms. There are many ways to obtain a Bronzong in Pokemon Go, you just need to take the first opportunity that comes your way.

FAQ

How good is Bronzong?

In the recent generations of competitive Pokemon battles, Bronzong has been getting closer to the bottom. During its debut in generation four, it was near the top. This fall from grace comes from it being outclassed by newer Pokemon as well as not fitting the role it used to fulfill. While it is still a strong Pokemon defensively, there are a lot of new offensive Pokemon for Bronzong to worry about.

Is Bronzong weak to fighting types?

As a dual type steel and psychic Pokemon, Bronzong is not weak to fighting types and takes regular damage from them. It will take 2x damage from ghost, dark, fire, and ground type moves although its fire or ground weakness can be removed through its Heat Proof or Levitate ability.

Is Bronzong a Legendary?

There is nothing about Bronzong that can classify it as a legendary Pokemon. It can be bred at a Pokemon Daycare, it is part of an evolution line, and it can be encountered more than once per save file. Therefore, Bronzong is not a legendary Pokemon.

Conclusion

Congratulations, you now know just about everything there is to know about this “Bronze Bell Pokemon”. Even though Bronzong has fallen from the top tiers of competitive play, it is still a powerful defensive Pokemon in its own right. Not many Pokemon can remove its type weaknesses through its abilities and Bronzong gives you the choice of removing either fire or ground weakness. Reserve a slot for Bronzong if you want a strong defensive psychic and steel type Pokemon.
