The Mega Evolution for Lucario is finally coming to Pokemon GO on July 27, 2024, for an exclusive Raid Day event. Given the scale of this Mega Evolution, as well as Niantic's recent practices with restricting raid content, some players may initially assume that they will need to be present at the raid location to participate instead of using a Remote Raid Pass to play from anywhere.

Thankfully, this is not the case. In fact, Niantic has incentivized many players to use Remote Raid Passes due to the Raid Day's bonus effect.

With this in mind, many trainers will want to try their hand at the Mega Lucario raids in Pokemon GO. Here is everything to know about the event.

During the Mega Lucario Raid Day in Pokemon GO, the cap on the amount of remote raids players can participate in is greatly increased. Usually, trainers can only challenge three remote raids per day. However, this number will be increased to 20 during the event. Additionally, five free passes for in-person raids can be obtained by spinning a photo disk located at any gym location.

However, Remote Raid Passes can be purchased from the shop for 195 Pokecoins each. Once players have their Remote Raid Pass, they will need a way to join a raid. This can be done by tapping on a distant one from their given location or from accepting a raid invitation sent by another trainer on their friend list.

Since Mega Lucario is a very powerful creature, players should not attempt to solo it. They should try to have as many people in a lobby as possible, so it would be best to coordinate such an attempt with friends on social media.

Additionally, trainers will need to know a bit about Mega Lucario before they challenge it.

Tips for taking down the Mega Lucario Raid Boss in Pokemon GO

Mega Lucario will be a very challenging boss, even for experienced raiders. Being a Steel- and Fighting-type critter, its main weaknesses are Ground-, Fire-, and other Fighting-type attacks.

This is beneficial for players since Primal Groudon, one of the best raid battlers in Pokemon GO, is the most powerful Ground-type Pocket Monster in the game.

Defense is also important for Raid Battles. When trainers approach any fight, they should consider the weaknesses and resistances of their team, as well as their offensive strengths.

Chandelure is a great defensive choice as its secondary Ghost typing gives it resistance against Lucario's Fighting-type attacks. Its Fire typing also grants it resistance against Lucario's Steel-type attacks.

Since Mega Lucario is a Mega Raid Boss, it is advised that players bring as many ally trainers with them as they can. Coordinating with friends online or using Campfire can be crucial to assembling a proper raid party.
