Eggs are some of the best ways to get free Pokemon in Pokemon GO. Being found in opening gifts, spinning Pokestops, and defeating Team GO Rocket leaders, eggs have been a staple in the mobile game since their debut. Moreover, some creatures are exclusive to being found in eggs.

However, some players may notice that after a while of actively playing, their egg storage can fill up quickly. With no option being given in the storage to discard an egg in one's inventory, many players have realized that there is no way to remove eggs from their inventory as of writing.

To optimize egg storage, players will need to know more about these eggs. Pokemon eggs come in different colors with varying hatching distances. Some eggs require two, five, seven, ten, and twelve kilometers to hatch, with the monsters in these eggs scaling in rarity with higher distances.

The two, five, and seven varieties can be found with different rarity from spinning Pokestops. Special eggs with exclusive hatch pools can also be found by using Pokemon GO's Adventure Sync feature, which rewards players for being active even while the game is off. A 5 km egg is rewarded after walking 25 km in a week, with a 10 kg one being granted after 50.

For optimizing egg storage, players will need to consider their activity before claiming eggs from any other source. It can be devastating for trainers to miss out on eggs harboring potential powerhouses like Riolu or Cranidos because their inventory is cramped with 2 km eggs.

Pokemon eggs also require an incubator to hatch. When being careless with gathering eggs, one must consider the availability of incubators at the time. Players only have one free incubator, and they can never unlock another permanent one. Rather, they will need to either earn or buy a free limited-use incubator.

Incubators can be purchased from the shop with a standard unit costing 150 Pokecoins, and a super version costing 200. The super variant hatches eggs 33 percent faster than the standard unit, but both will be destroyed after being used to hatch three eggs. Sometimes standard units can be given out for free from special research quests or from leveling up one's account.

If trainers find themselves with an unwanted egg of a rarity with an undesirable creature, they should hatch it immediately to make room for an egg they want. Since these less-valuable eggs take less time to hatch, they are much easier to remove from one's inventory as eggs cannot be removed from one's storage otherwise.
