Taking a look at Regice's stats and attributes will give you a brief idea of why it is not possible to take down 5-star Regice Shadow raids in Pokemon GO as a solo raider:
- Type: Ice
- Combat Power: 42,768
- Attack: 179 (+20%) [This goes up when the raid boss is Enraged]
- Defense: 309 (-20%) [This goes up significantly when the raid boss is Enraged]
- Stamina: 15,000 HP
- Fast Attacks: Frost Breath, Lock On, and Rock Smash
- Charged Attacks: Blizzard, Earthquake, and Focus Blast

Based on this, for the following reasons:
- Regice is a mono-Ice-type critter. This means it doesn't have any double weaknesses. 5-star raid bosses without a double weakness are hard to take down even when possible.
- The Iceberg Pokemon has a humungous base 309 Defense stat. While being Shadow takes away 20% of this, the Enraged mechanic boosts this by 200%. This means even powerful super-effective attacks like Sunsteel Strike from Dusk Mane Necrozma do little damage to it.
- Shadow Regice hits reasonably hard, especially considering it has nuke Charged Attacks only.
While it is impossible to solo defeat Shadow Regice in Pokemon GO, you can do so with a few more players alongside you. The following section will elaborate on this.
Minimum number of trainers needed to take down 5-star Shadow Regice raids in Pokemon GO

You can take down Shadow Regice in 5-star Pokemon GO raids with four players at least. However, you must only use a combination of the following creatures if you wish to get this result:
- Mega Lucario with Force Palm and Aura Sphere

Keep the following tips and tricks in mind to drive this strategy to success:
- Pre-plan your raid teams so that you can synergize with your co-raiders by using either Steel-, Fighting-, or Fire-type Pocket Monsters. This will let you take maximum advantage of the Mega Evolution damage bonus.
- If you can, join the same Party Play group. This will give you another level of damage boost. If you are friends with your co-raiders, it will give you one more multiplier stack.
- Stock up on Revives and Max Potions as your attackers are bound to faint multiple times over the course of the battle.
- Make sure everyone has Purified Gems and they use it. Subduing the boss will be hard, but doing so is one of the key win conditions.
While you cannot solo defeat Shadow Regice in Pokemon GO, you can low-man these battles if you follow the aforementioned strategy.
