Can you use Remote Raid Pass in Pokemon GO Shadow Lugia Raids?

Pokemon GO Shadow Lugia Raids were introduced in October 2023 during the Halloween Team GO Rocket Takeover event. It has returned to the game as part of the Adventure Week: Taken Over Shadow Raid Weekend on August 10 and 11, 2024. Unfortunately, participation using Remote Raid Passes will not be allowed this time as well.

Shadow Lugia Raids in Pokemon GO are Tier-5 Shadow Raids, a mechanic introduced during the first part of 2023. While they offer players a challenging battling experience as well as the chance to capture Shiny Shadow Legendary Pocket Monsters, they only allow in-person participation.

How to participate in Pokemon GO Shadow Lugia Raids

To participate in Shadow Lugia Raids in Pokemon GO, you must locate a Gym hosting these raids around you. You can do this by opening the "Nearby Pokemon" window at the bottom right of your screen. Once inside this tab, swipe right to see current and upcoming raids.

Current Shadow Lugia Raids will feature a silhouette of Lugia with the shadow effect as well as a snapshot of the Gym location. Alternatively, you will see a Raid Egg having the shadow effect with raid logos underneath, alerting you of the upcoming raid boss that will hatch from the Egg.

If you cannot find Shadow Lugia raids in the Pokemon GO app, click on the browse Campfire button at the bottom of the raids page in-game. Here, you can filter raids and locate all the Shadow Lugia raids you need to locate.

Once you have found the raid you want to attack, travel to the location. You must be within 80 meters of the Gym to interact with it, thereby starting the raid. Next, use a Premium Battle Pass or your Daily Free Raid Pass to challenge the raid boss.

Make sure to have the best counters to Shadow Lugia raid ready. Since Shadow Lugia cannot be solo defeated, you should also have a couple of raiding partners. If you try to challenge Shadow Lugia raids on your own, you are bound to face a loss, which will be a total waste of your time and energy.

To make the most out of the event, make sure to capture as many wild Pocket Monsters, defeat as many Grunts and Bosses, and hatch as many Eggs as possible.
