Chespin debuted in Generation VI as a Grass-type Pokémon. From level 16 onwards, it evolves into Quilladin which evolves into Chesnaught at level 36. Chespin is one of three Kalos starter Pokémon accessible at the start of Pokémon X and Y, alongside Fennekin and Froakie. It was the first Generation VI Pokémon to be introduced to the public on January 8, 2013, as part of the Pokémon Direct show, with Fennekin, Froakie, Xerneas, and Yveltal.

Appearance
Chespin is a mammalian Pokémon that walks on two legs with three triangle marks across its face and is mostly light brown with darker arms. It’s features include brown oval eyes, a triangular red nose and incisors that resemble those of a rodent. It has three fingers on its limbs and two long claws on its feet while a strong, green shell covers its back and extends from its head to halfway down its tail. Chespins also have an orange tip on their tails while the rear of it's head has a tiny, off-center opening in its shell which also bears four leaf-like spikes surrounding the face. Another spike divided into three pieces covers the rear of its skull.
Behavior
Chespin's shell can protect it from powerful attacks but while the quills on its head are usually soft, they can be stiffened and used to attack it’s enemies as well. Despite having a curious nature that tends to get it in trouble, Chespin keeps an optimistic outlook and does not worry about small details.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Since it is a Grass-type Pokemon, it is particularly strong against Ground, Water, Grass, and Electric-type moves. However, it is weak against Flying, Poison, Bug, Fire, and Ice-type moves and thus takes double damage from them.
Shiny Chespin
Shiny Chespin can be found in the wild, in 5km Eggs and via Research Encounters and Raids as well. Every time you encounter a Chespin, there’s a small chance of it being a Shiny Chespin with the difference between the two being that a Shiny Chespin has a red shell instead of the green one on its counterpart.
Best Moveset
Vine Whip | Smackdown |
Superpower | Energy Ball |
Vine Whip is generally recommended for its significantly faster energy generation, as well as benefiting from STAB. SmackDown gives up faster energy gains for strong Rock-type damage although it doesn't get STAB. Superpower is a very strong move in PvP, offering very high damage for its low energy cost but is risky to use with its self-debuff. Energy Ball costs a moderately high amount of energy, but benefits from STAB to offer consistent damage.
How to catch Chespin in Pokémon Go?
Chespin is one of the few Kalos Pokemon available in the game right now. To capture Chespin, Players should simply search the wild. To increase its chances of spawning, equip either an Incense item or a PokeStop Lure to cause more Pokemon to spawn. It's completely up to chance if it will appear but considering how new it is, there’s a good chance that it will appear fairly often.
Players looking for Chespin don't need to worry about specific spawning areas or times as Chespin can be normally found in the wild alongside other wild Pokemon. Because of this, players will likely have an easier time finding one by using incense or lure on a nearby PokeStop. Nevertheless, Chespin can also appear in 5km eggs and thus, make sure you put only the most recent eggs you've collected inside of the incubators. Any other egg found beforehand will not contain a Chespin.

Conclusion
Congratulations! You have just expanded your knowledge on Chespin, a unique Grass-Type pokemon possessing mammalian features. Its facial features, particularly the triangular nose and eyes add to its already adorable nature. As discussed above, using Chespin in PvPs can be risky especially against a Pokemon with high Special Attack stat due to its vulnerability.
