Appearance

Cleffa is a tiny star-shaped Pokemon that has a twirl on its head which looks like the top part of a star. It has two brown ears which look like the two upper sides of the star. Its two legs look like the bottom sides of the star as well and it has small brown eyes with blushes and tiny little arms as well. Its mouth is seen right below the blushes while its body is entirely pink except for its ears with a round, tiny tail.

Behavior

If you usually see shooting stars in the sky, you don’t want to miss it; unless there are Cleffa around. On such nights, Cleffa are seen dancing in circles without a break, throughout the night. They only take a break when it's morning and they quench their thirst with morning dew. Because of this and its appearance, people assume that these Pokemon came over here on a meteor. It also has a strange affection towards Minior, which adds even more to this theory.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Cleffa is a pure Fairy type so its weaknesses are pretty basic. It is weak against Poison, and Steel type moves, resistant to Fighting, Bug, and Dark type attacks, and immune to Dragon type moves.

Best moveset

Due to it being a baby Pokemon, Cleffa can not contribute much in battle and it has very low stats as well as a bad move pool. Endeavour and Counter work in a similar way and with the help of a focus sash, upon taking massive damage, both of these moves can deal lots of damage to the opponent. With Protect, you can waste turns on the opponent if there are conditions like Toxic, arena effects like rain dance, terrains, etc. and extend the battle. Thunderwave is a last resort option, which will leave the opponent paralyzed.

How to catch Cleffa in Pokemon Go?

Cleffa can be found in churches, cemeteries, places of interest and landmarks. Alternatively, you can hatch it from a 2 KM egg. You can evolve Cleffa into a Clefairy using 25 candies. You can further evolve Clefairy into Clefable using 50 candies and you’ll have to do it the hard way as it has not appeared as a raid boss yet.

Trivia

  1. Cleffa were originally normal type Pokemon when introduced. It was later changed into a Fairy type with the introduction of the same in Gen VI.
  2. Cleffa was initially only obtainable by hatching it from an egg. This changed later on when it became more common to have baby Pokemon in the wild.
  3. Cleffa and Igglybuff have the lowest speed stat of all fairy type Pokemon.

FAQs

At what level does Cleffa evolve?

Cleffa does not evolve with level, but rather with friendship. It requires you to level up while you have high friendship with this Pokemon.

How do you get a Cleffa in Pokemon Sword?

You can find wild Cleffa in Hammerlocke Hills, Fields of Honor, Soothing Wetlands and Forest of Focus. You can also hatch them by breeding Clefairy.

What is Cleffa’s Hidden Ability?

Cleffa’s Hidden Ability is Friend Guard. It reduces the damage that is taken by your allies by 25%.

Conclusion

Cleffa, the star shaped Pokemon are incredibly cute to look at. As it is a baby Pokemon, it is not very strong in battle. However, it is very strong if the battle is about how cute the Pokemon are. With very low base stats and movepool, it is not fit for battle and is not a good Pokemon competitively.
