Appearance

Comfey looks like a lei which holds itself together at all times. It looks like a small fairy which has flowers emerging from it and holding the other end by itself. Its flowers go in this order of colors from the back to the front -- white, pink, yellow, red, white, pink, yellow and red, with the fairy holding the red flower with its hands. The fairy is green in color with an orange face and green eyes.

Behavior

Comfey has a vine sticking out of it which is extremely nutritious for flowers and because of this, they gather flowers and attach them to its vine. These flowers, since they are being given such good nutrition, not only have healing effects but are also famous for preparing baths with them. Baths with Comfey flowers seem to have a relaxing effect. These Pokemon feel uncomfortable when they are not holding flowers.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Comfey is a pure Fairy type so its weaknesses are pretty basic. It is weak against Poison, and Steel type moves but is resistant to Fighting, Bug, and Dark type attacks, and immune to Dragon type moves.

Best moveset

Comfey has a decent special attack as well as a decent movepool and while not outstanding, this Pokemon can still hold off on its own in competitive matchmaking. Calm Mind is extremely important as this Pokemon does not have high offensive power and using Calm Mind increases not only your Special Attack stat, but also Special Defense. After that, either Draining Kiss or Giga Drain works depending on the opponent Pokemon’s type to recover health while dealing high amounts of damage. Remember that Draining Kiss has STAB and will deal more damage than Giga Drain. Finally, if any Pokemon in your team is suffering from a status condition, you can always use Aromatherapy to remove it.

Trivia

  1. While it looks like a grass type Pokemon, Comfey is not one. This is because the flower it holds is different from its body.
  2. Once attached to Comfey, it is impossible for flowers to wither.
  3. Comfey’s vines have an ability to enhance and amplify the smell of flowers.

Conclusion

Upon arriving in Alola, people are greeted with a Comfey around their neck. Competitively, Comfey are strong enough to hold off against meta Pokemon with a decent movepool. Due to its regenerative abilities it can take a few turns to set up and then heal itself. This makes this Pokemon strong and viable.
