November's Pokemon GO Community Day has sparked significant frustration among fans, with many expressing disappointment over the featured Pokemon - Mankey. Community Days were once highly anticipated events, but recent choices have left the player base feeling underwhelmed, and the November selection has only fueled this sentiment.
The discontent started when a Reddit user, u/Emile_the_rat, voiced their frustrations with the event, saying:
"Seriously, from Bellsprout to Bounsweet, Tynamo, Ponyta, to this. Mankey have been in spawn, every single day, for the last year. Already have tons of useless XL candies on Mankey. Seriously Niantic!? Seems like they choose the worst, and least wanted Pokemons for Community days, and it’s painly obvious."
Players like u/Emile_the_rat feel that Niantic, the developer behind Pokemon GO, has been choosing the least desired Pokemon for these events, which once stood as the monthly highlight for many trainers:

"Community day have gone from being the highlight of every month, to being the most dissapointing thing ever. Community days have become a joke, not worth spending money on."
Now, however, the Redditor thinks these Community Days feel like a waste of time and resources, especially with the redundant XL candies players are accumulating.
The backlash from the community is not an isolated reaction, with many others joining in to express their thoughts.
Several fans speculate that the silver lining might lie in the final evolution of Mankey - Annihilape. Reddit user u/0N7R2B3 commented that Annihilape could receive an elite move during the event.
The hope for an exclusive move adds a bit of excitement for some players, but this potential upgrade alone may not be enough to quell the general dissatisfaction.
Another player, u/redlurk47, chimed in to suggest that Annihilape has strong potential depending on how Niantic handles its signature move, Rage Fist.
Others, like user u/king_ender200, voiced frustration about the Pokemon choices in general.
They suggested that future Community Days should focus on species that require more effort, like those needing 400 candies to evolve. This would provide a greater sense of reward for players investing their time.
Redditor u/beatool echoed similar sentiments but pointed out a potential issue for the upcoming Community Day:
"That sounds likely to me. Time to buddy up some Primeapes in case they don't give us a free Annihilape evolve. It'd be annoying to have to grind out the battles on a time crunch later."
This would allow players to evolve it into Annihilape if Niantic doesn't offer a free evolution window. For some, the concern over grinding candies under a time constraint adds a layer of frustration.
Interestingly, not all players are entirely disillusioned. User u/TheLostLegend89 expressed excitement for Mankey's Community Day, stating that Annihilape is one of their favorite Pokemon. However, they lamented the missed opportunity for a Halloween-themed Community Day, especially since Annihilape is part Ghost-type.

What is a Community Day in Pokemon GO?
For those unfamiliar, Pokemon GO's Community Days are monthly events where a specific Pokemon is featured, appearing more frequently in the wild for a limited time. Players often get bonuses, such as increased Stardust or experience, along with exclusive moves for evolving the featured Pokemon during the event.
The excitement typically stems from the chance to capture rare or shiny versions of a Pokemon, stock up on resources, and interact with the local Pokemon GO community.
However, as these recent reactions suggest, the event's shine has faded for many. As Niantic continues to select less popular Pokemon for Community Days, the player base's engagement and enthusiasm may continue to dwindle unless more meaningful content is offered in the future.
