Appearance
Conkeldurr stands 1.4 meters tall and looks like a bipedal humanoid ogre or golem. It has brown skin, a large red nose, a round crest on its head, and large pink veins protruding from its body. It carries massive concrete pillars around and uses it to strike fierce blows against its opponents in battle.
Behavior
Conkeldurr’s massive upper body is so heavy that it often leans against the concrete pillars it carries. It primarily relies on its concrete pillars in battle but resorts to powerful punches and kicks when it gets enraged. Conkeldurr taught ancient humans the secrets of making concrete nearly 2000 years ago and can often be found helping out at construction sites.
Strengths and Weaknesses
Conkeldurr is a Fighting type and thus has a good defense against Bug, Rock, and Dark-type moves. However, it is weak to Flying, Psychic, and Fairy-type moves, and takes twice the normal damage from them.
Shiny Conkeldurr
The main difference between Conkeldurr and Shiny Conkeldurr is that it trades its brown skin and pink veins for tan skin and orange veins. This dramatic palette swap makes it easy to spot Shiny Conkeldurr in Pokémon collections and battles. Plus, like all shiny Pokemon, Shiny Conkeldurr gains a starry animation upon entering battle, so keep an eye out.
Best moveset (Conkeldurr)
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Guts
Held Item: Flame Orb
Drain Punch | Facade |
Knock Off | Mach Punch |
Conkeldurr is a physical powerhouse that can even dominate Machamp in certain competitive scenarios. A Flame Orb allows Facade to deal massive damage to most foes, while Guts prevents Conkeldurr from taking a damage penalty from its burned status. Mach Punch serves as a powerful STAB priority move to maintain momentum, while Drain Punch allows Conkeldurr to deal STAB damage and recover its health in long battles. An Adamant nature maximizes Conkeldurr’s Attack and minimizes its Special Attack.

FAQs
Is Conkeldurr stronger than Machamp?
Machamp is an offensive powerhouse but Conkeldurr has better defensive stats and STAB moves which have made it common on competitive teams.
Can you evolve Gurdurr without trading?
No. The only way to evolve Gurdurr is to trade back and forth with a friend. Fortunately, Conkeldurr can be found in the wild in the Pokémon Sword and Shield game.
Is Lucario or Conkeldurr better?
Conkeldurr is bulkier and sturdier than Lucario, but Lucario has better Defensive typing. That combined with Lucario’s high Special Attack allows it to use super effective STAB moves against common types with high Defense but lower Special Defense like Steel-types, Ice-types, and Rock-types. The two are pretty evenly matched, though Conkeldurr fares better against Lucario in a one-on-one battle.
Conclusion
Conkeldurr is known for its excellent offensive typing, awesome abilities, and powerful moveset.
